Not really using Twitter/X these days, but think I still have a few followers on here interested in Southern African history who might want to read my recent open access publication on UK/Bophuthatswana relations: https://t.co/H7KcIH2TSv
5.Labour’s story, just like the US Democrats, doesn’t make narrative sense.
Rather than explain how 40 years of atomising, neoliberal plunder; the selling-off of & destruction of our public services; the undermining or our democracy, the hollowing out and selling off of our natural resources…
I wonder if council results in ultra safe seats like this will scare Labour. Losing votes to left and right could see many seats lost in more marginal northern constituencies in both local and national elections.
I spoke a week ago to colleagues at work about some reflections on the US election. The logic of elections gets even weirder in the last few days as campaign teams are frenzied in grabbing those last votes! @LJMUIR5

I've just discovered that Sir Arthur Snelling wrote his valedictory dispatch upon leaving his post as UK ambassador to South Africa in 1972 as a play/conversation amongst stereotypes
Writing the 2nd book feels simultaneously easier and harder than writing the 1st. On the one hand, I definitely have the skillset to do it much quicker now, on the other I also have less patience & motivation. Definitely prefer the (relatively) quick win of publishing articles
The University of Rhodesia Principle was somewhat nonchalant in his response to questions from the British government about violence between Black and White students on campus in 1976

We’ve had such a great week welcoming our first years to LJMU History! We can’t wait to work you over the coming year.
Looking forward to say hello 👋 to L5 and L6 students on Monday! 2024-25 is now officially underway….
I like that predatory journals have upped their game from wanting me to re-publish an article with them, to now telling me my article is award winning in an attempt to get me to engage with them. I can pretend to myself this is career progression
And it’s a wrap on our first day!
Big welcome to our first years in History & History and English. We had a great time meeting you. See you tomorrow and the rest of the week for your induction.
