It's release day! Feeling really excited to hold my first publication from my PhD in my hand!
I had such a blast contributing to this book and I can't wait to read the other chapters on such a great range of topics!
Just received paperback edition from @OUPHistory of 'Enemies in the Empire' which I co-authored with @StefanManz2 with research support from @HenkelStiftung
Kicking off day 1 of the Business History Conference with some creative sessions on careers & publishing.
Anyone interested in food and/or advertising history? Feel free to message - I'd love to chat! #BHC2024
What practices and knowledge did US and UK supermarkets exchange in the late 20th C? How did this change the way we shop – and eat – today?
I’ll explore this via trade literature, ephemera, and company records tomorrow at #BHC2024, ‘Technology Emergence and Transfer’, 9.45am.
Today I eagerly embark on a three-month Fellowship at the Smithsonian's @amhistorymuseum in Washington, D.C. This research, funded by @ahrcpress, will enable me to study 19c/20c business records, advertisements, product cookbooks, ephemera and scores more rich American resources!
I am always grateful to my supervisor, @profpanayi, and co-supervisor, @manassas17 for their prevailing support in helping me navigate both my PhD and, now simultaneously, this incredible opportunity in the heart of so many museums & historical materials.
The call for papers for next year's SHS conference is now live.
We are the biggest gathering of social and cultural historians in the UK and will be in Durham, 8-10 July 2024.
The call is wide-ranging and we like to think we're a friendly bunch:
