@robjeffecology Itโs to everyone. Itโs every carer.... I just wish there were some way to unite us all. From domiciliary to nursing home to hospital to unpaid care workers. There are millions of us and we could make some positive changes which In turn helps the vulnerable
@robjeffecology And for proper sick pay, overtime payment. Iโm contracted 39 a week. Work 65, still only contracted at 39 hours a week when calculating my annual leave. Never been paid overtime. Didnโt even get paid to self isolate.
@robjeffecology I remember the mistakes they made.... every care worker throughout the pandemic has seen the governments actions and gone *face palm* here we go again. Still think we should push for better pay though... or Atleast some kind of strike.
Soon to start my first week of annual leave this year.... manager โcanโt you cover some shifts?โ - no sorry... Thankyou bye. Iโve done 65-72 hours a week for a year #fuckcovid#covid19#covid19uk#careworker
@StandUpForSC@personneltoday The need to be investigating smaller companies to ensure they are spending the fund properly. It also states that carers can be paid overtime to cover shifts. I worked 315 hours during one of our outbreaks...... no extra pay
Hereโs a revolutionary idea, pay carers full pay for sickness regardless of covid or not. Pay every carer overtime, not matter their contracted hours. Give more than an hours break on a 13 hour shift. Also agency workers donโt help - mostly they hinder.
@SCRaWork@CommonsHealth@Robert_Booth@GdnSocialCare Laws must be passed to ensure care workers get paid overtime... most care workers work above their contracted hours to make ends meet, thatโs just how it is. Your contract is 39... but you work 65 hours a week
@SCRaWork@CommonsHealth@Robert_Booth@GdnSocialCare Maybe if care staff were offered more than the minimum wage to cover extra shifts they wouldnโt be short staffed? Also extending break times for care workers would help. I get 1 hour split up over a 13 hour shift. Not enough... in those conditions
