Initially, it was a fun and creative technology. Now, it may be used maliciously. How will deepfakes affect us politically? How will they affect our understanding of what is true and what is false? What regulations should be implemented? #ENCS393 https://t.co/MGbAQyVhUh
It is known that companies like Facebook and Google sell your private data in order to make a profit. That already makes them untrustworthy. But what happens when they cannot even keep their customer's information private from hackers?

The purpose of a business is to make profit. As such, how can we trust the big tech companies not to alter their algorithms to highlight results that would make them the most money? Can they hide their actions behind "strategic ignorance"?

@__Jenny__M___ This article has multiple good points which I did not take into consideration before. I already knew some of the issues mentioned, like bad internet connection during a test, but never thought about disabled students such as those suffering from Tourette and how it affects them.
@JadENCS393 I agree with many of the points in this post. I am unsure how we could solve the problem of "dirty data" but I like the idea of transparency that was mentioned. If we, the consumers, could understand how these algorithms work, we could understand more of the underlying biases
It is not atypical to come across teachers who face difficulties using technology, as it could be shown towards the early phases of Zoom learning. Is forcing teachers to learn how to use technology a solution, or might it be considered ageism? #ENCS393

Technology has inserted itself both in governmental policies and in our personal lives. Now, private businesses might hold some power over some countries as is the case with Nigeria right now. What kind of regulations should be implemented? #ENCS393

@tongwei_z I agree, there should be human rights treaty to limit the amount of toxicity and harassments online. But I fear this might take a while since multiple Governments and multiple private companies would have to sit down and agree on the terms. This might prove itself difficult.
With Zoom's popularity rising, is it fair to expect both employees and students to use it with full complacency? Especially so considering it suffered from privacy and security issues, and has a history of dishonesty #ENCS393 https://t.co/mNPPx0jq3I
With AI becoming smarter and smarter, will we reach a point where they will be deserving of rights just as humans do? Would it be unethical to deny them those rights? An interesting topic to be discussed for #ENCS393
