If you've never seen your ApoB, that's the number I'd ask your doctor for next.
It's one of several I think everyone should know.
— Dr. Dan Troha, MD | Troha Performance Medicine
Two people can have identical, perfectly "normal" cholesterol, and completely different heart attack risk.
The difference is a number almost no one has measured: ApoB.
A thread on the most underrated predictor of how you'll age.
And yet it's almost never on a routine physical, and not part of a standard lipid panel. ApoB has to be ordered on purpose.
It's cheap. It's widely available. And it may be the most important number you've never seen.

Is high pre-test probability for PE a slam dunk? Are there nuances in diagnosing PE in this population? @LWestafer explains at #PERT2025@PERTConsortium
@undisputed @RealSkipBayless As a physician who treats patients with liver injuries, it is reckless to say that this “isn’t terribly serious.” Depending on the severity, this could be a potentially life-threatening injury.
@TaylorTwellman@espn Thank you for addressing #CPR awareness during the broadcast. As an ER doctor and a son to a father who died of sudden cardiac arrest, this hits close to home.
Great discussion on home PE treatment with moderator PhotiGalanis & co-panelists @klinelab@DanielRTroha JackieHernandez-Nino. Visit https://t.co/kXC2cy72yC if you missed it.
@Toaster_Pastry@CatherineEPDoc Agree. I use dilt purely as a rate controlling agent if patient isn’t a candidate for chemical or electrical cardioversion. I find most underdose dilt bolus and/or titrate drip up without rebolusing.
@CatherineEPDoc@Toaster_Pastry Why not do it ourselves? Well within our scope as emergency physicians to cardiovert a-fib and send home with or without anticoagulation.
@CriticalCareNow This is great. I would caution treating all with full dose AC without known or suspected VTE. This is based on an @PERTConsortium presentation by @DJC6998 and @__Klok and recent @ACCinTouch statement. https://t.co/2RhRqF2ObA
