Wrote a script to increase the relevancy of products listed on the first page of ever category on a marge Woo Commerce store. (Imagine trying to rank a category when the first page contains irrelevant products - think accessories etc).

There doesn't seem to be a decent way to do a default relevancy sort - even with plugins (Happy to be proved wrong).

So I wrote this script that uses Sentence Transformers with WordPress RPC protocol to score product name similarity against the category name an assign a sort order.

Really pleased with the results so far, categories are way more relevant now. (Have first hand experience with the very first core update decimated categories which had a default sort of popularity, which pushed all the relevant products to page 2+

Fun to watch the script whizz away and sort 6,000 products faster and better than a human.

Another idea of the back of this could be to take the median relevancy score for each product Vs category to flag any naming convention / taxonomy classification issues.
