@PhilMurphyNJ The Legislature passed it unanimously. Education advocates strongly support it. It’s time to sign the bill to #EliminateEdTPA in NJ. Ending edTPA is a common-sense approach to addressing the teacher shortage. This law will benefit NJ's students and schools!

@RutgersAltRoute A5: Over the course of the year I have adjusted my rubrics so that grade level is respective of demonstration of understanding and mastery. Rather than punitive it becomes encouraging and allows them to reach by showing what they can do.
@RutgersAltRoute A3: In the future I plan to incorporate goal setting from my students at the beginning of each unit so they have something to work towards and then work past.
@RutgersAltRoute A2: I like to incorporate multiple forms of assessment to demonstrate mastery for the same material. That way, it shows students they do not need to learn material immediately and shows it is ok to make mistakes.
@RutgersAltRoute A1: Growth vs fixed mindsets can either effect positively or negatively. Students and Teachers that possess growth mindsets can have a limitless amount of learning potential. Those with fixed mindsets have already placed limitations on themselves
@RutgersAltRoute A3: #altrtEd#Sped They can set up differentiated learning in their room. So different stations with different outcomes. Group work with each member having different kinds of responsibilities. Highlight the specific student's strengths and build around that.
@RutgersAltRoute A1 #altrtEd#Sped One opportunity I've found in my inclusive class is allowing some of those students to be group leaders. It builds their confidence and allows the other students to view them as equals and not different than themselves.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: Build in communication into your classroom management plan for students to communicate when they need assistance or are struggling. Letting them know you are always aware of their presence and needs will stop them from feeling isolated and alone.
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I've been having trouble drawing the line between discipline and understanding. I can see why a particular student is acting out and antagonizing others but the students on the receiving end can't. It's hard to discipline if I understand the underlying emotional cause.
@RutgersAltRoute A3: I use genesis to communicate with colleagues, administration and parents about their students disruptive behavior in class. I will send emails home when necessary and occasionally call if the family is not technologically savvy.
@RutgersAltRoute A2: Begin by building a classroom climate of mutual respect from day 1. Build in avenues of open communication for students to communicate with the teacher privately. Be aware and look for signs of bullying in the classroom daily.
@RutgersAltRoute I currently implement several methods including SEL into weekly lessons, class rules that place respect and communication at the forefront and communal tables where students can interact with each other for projects.

In our district we use a system called Genesis for all grading, attendance, etc. And direct email's to parents when there needs to be communication regarding their child. Additionally, all students receive gmail accounts for school related work. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute A4
Technology allows us to reach students faster and more efficiently than ever before. With this speed comes the danger of not fully processing information. Students can equate learning with entertainment when it's presented in the same format. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute A3
In district we have PD days where we hold both in person and online meetings for the aim of collaboration. This provides us opportunity to work with those both in and outside of our discipline. In fact I will be working with our astronomy teacher next month. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute A2
I have had recurring problems of students not understanding how the technology works differently from their phone to computer. I find modeling the workflow effective as well as having other students assist the struggling ones. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute I use technology to supplement my lessons and help deliver content. For instance I often use a classroom poll to aide in class discussion, classroom to organize and assign work and sites like paddle and canvas for posting visual work. #AltRtEd#EdTech
