@ausstockchick Didn’t think it was that bad. I thought it was more a joke that was pointed to trump rambling on about building a ballroom at the Whitehouse when asked about how he’s grieving. Also a bit hypocritical with getting canned from “free speech”
@JMunyack1974@BikoKonstantin1 Worked with a guy who thought the crash was coming in 2011 due the GFC fear, sold his house in Airport West, Melbourne for $350k then rented to “cash in on the bubble” had to buy in Geelong several years later for $800k meanwhile the airport west home was worth $1.2m at the time
@AsakusaKitsune@ausstockchick Mid 80s labour canned neg gearing and within 2 years reinstated it due to everyone selling their rentals and bringing a housing shortage.
@P_Scardigno@bowtiedstocks Like I said regional property in Victoria. what’s the odds this was a holiday home getting smashed by vacant property tax or like a lot of people that fled to the regions have been dragged back to the office and can no longer wfh.
@LifestyleIS@bowtiedstocks Yeah I forgot “gain” in front of the $100k growth. Wasn’t sure of the tax rate they’re running with. But still fronting up anything on super is ludicrous.
@LifestyleIS@bowtiedstocks I don’t know how they’re even getting away with this super tax. Just trying to get my head around it. If I had a smsf with 3m of property and the yearly val comes back at $100k does the gov ask for $30k?
@bowtiedstocks It’s pretty wild people sold their house in that time due to all the fear mongering, went to renting then had to buy that same property 20-30% higher than what they sold for 3-4 years later.
@bowtiedstocks Remember when commonwealth bank predicted house prices would fall 30% during covid and they went up almost that. House prices that aren’t regional don’t fall 10-20%.
@LifestyleIS@bowtiedstocks It’s a too many people for a not enough supply issue, there’s so much tax on building that’ll keep it that way. If they removed stamp duty from land purchases that’ll open it up plenty
