Mont Ventoux is just different. What other MTF do you have a crosswind race before? Full cross tailwind in the 40km before the climb today. With the heat and humidity, eating and drink will be difficult in the hour before they even start one of the hardest climbs in cycling.
Good morning from @LeTour 🇫🇷
20th birthday celebration messages continue to come in to Qhubeka HQ.
Today we hear from @DanMartin86 - 2x stage winner at Le Tour, 2x stage at the Vuelta and 1x stage at the Giro 👍
Thanks Dan!

@marbh345 The majority of race organisers pay to have their races on TV. Cycling is mostly free to air in Europe meaning the TV rights are not prohibitive. This is cycling becoming popular enough that the broadcaster thinks they can up the price
Discovery’s decision to increase the monthly fee is a sign of cyclings popularity but also how TV advertising is no longer enough to cover the TV rights. I would doubt there has been any substantial increase in TV rights. But putting a sport behind a paywall that justifies team sponsors marketing spend with viewer figures could cause some teams some major headaches.
🏆A renowned victory for @DanMartin86 ! The cyclist took stage 3 of La Vuelta 20 in front of Roglic, Carapaz and Poels... Relive it on the video ▶️

@mcquaid_pat@UCI_cycling Maybe when you were president and that’s why it was free to spectate 🤣
But true that the poor organisation and logistics is the big issue.
Mtb World Champs in Andorrà this week. For a family of 4 it’s 140 euro. Per Day! That’s basic no frills entrance fee. Where is all the money going @UCI_cycling as my contacts tell me it’s not the local organizers.
Whatever happened to uphill sprints in @LeTour? I’m talking those 1km long 6-7% finishes. Imagine the battle royales we would see with MVDP, Van Aert, Girmay, Pidcock, DeLie and even the GC guys getting involved. So many flat straightforward sprints this year.
Properly tricky final today until the 1km togo today. And I am currently melting at the finish line. So humid. Another tough day.

💥 A mix of punch and raw power - @DanMartin86 believes the Belgian fast men have the best set of skills to tame the final straight in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises.
💥 Un mélange d'explosivité et de puissance pure - Dan Martin pense que les sprinteurs belges sont les mieux armés pour dominer la dernière ligne droite à Colombey-les-Deux-Églises !

Arrived at stage 8 finish line @LeTour and it’s way more tricky than I expected. Road book is pretty deceiving and we are in for a totally crazy final

Thinking back to yesterdays stage, did Vingegaard actually use a 1x chainring? If so that would explain the time loss on the pedaling section of the Galibier descent. I’m sure Pogacar had a superior gear setup/ratio.
