LGBT can and should be welcomed in the church. They should not be married in the church.

All are welcome in the church, but we should be changed by God—not affirmed by Him.

He asks us to DENY OURSELVES (not affirm ourselves), pick up our individual crosses, and follow Him.

We are called to sacrifice, called to repent, called to believe in Him and allow Him to make us new.

Being welcomed to come and worship and learn and repent and believe is not the same as being affirmed. None of us are affirmed in our identities in church—unless the identity is sinner and Christ follower.

This is such a good exchange.

A pastor of a progressive church asks how his LGBT members can produce such great fruits of the Spirit if they’re “so sinful.”

Allie’s answer is great. We’re all—LGBT or not—so sinful. People who think they’re LGBT aren’t more sinful than me, but we’re ALL called to deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Him.

And that cross we bear might be different from our neighbor’s.

The fact that people sin doesn’t mean they can’t exhibit common grace, but the fact of their common grace doesn’t mean they don’t sin or that we affirm sin.

I’d like to remind my pastor friends that our lgbtq+ siblings are the ones crying for help, and that the church has largely forsaken.

So here’s my question: “who do you know that you can pray for, hopefully expecting they’d experience the expansive inclusivity of Jesus?”
