Outside the political sphere, you can count on your fingers the number of families in this country that have maintained wealth in the true sense of the word across three generations, and that’s a frightening realization. My friends and I analyzed this hypothesis a while back, and the conclusion led us to understand why the patriarchs or matriarchs of various families either struggle to secure a seat in the political arena or maintain proximity to power to sustain their lifestyle or businesses, regardless of their perceived wealth.

Most so-called wealthy families in Nigeria are just one or two "distant" or “unfriendly” governments away from sliding into the disadvantaged middle class or even poverty, both relatively and actually. This is especially true for those who have no fallback plan after government service—those whose education or skills can’t be used to earn a living outside the perimeter of nepotism.

Many distinguished families whose patriarchs or matriarchs once reigned across the nation’s social and political circles now exist in the museum of history, trapped in dusty textbooks—forgotten and irrelevant even to those who once worshipped their power. That’s a lesson for us to think and plan ahead, and to know when and where the sun may set upon us.

While it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to serve your country, your worst decision is treating that station as either permanent or a money-making enterprise. The best succession plan for your lineage remains the gift of a relevant and sound education, durable social currency, and sustainable businesses, along with prayers; these are their only lifeboats to keep them going and useful, come rain or shine, years after you are no more. Everything else is beyond your control.

Not disputing the just concluded electoral process whether fair or not, subject to individual opinion. But as giant of africa, Nigeria needs to step up this process. How can we still be using paper votes for elections after spending 400billion on top INEC matter. "African giant"
