Our cross-practice team served as lead legal advisor to the Government of Ukraine in its landmark mineral rights agreement with the United States government. President Zelenskyy signed the Ukraine public law implementing the deal on 12 May 2025.

I think the most important aspect is getting the structure right; taking some time to think about priorities is wise. Too many rush into hiring a full team immediately. That said, hiring experience is valuable and there aren’t enough existing Labour staffers to go around.

The King's Speech also included the Economic Activities of Public Bodies (Overseas Matters) Bill. The Bill will ban public bodies from imposing their own boycotts, divestment, or sanctions campaigns against foreign countries (including Israel).
Today’s slimmed-down King’s speech included provision for the Trade (CPTPP) Bill, moving the UK towards membership of a body which will account for the majority of global growth between now and 2050, and representing £12 trillion of GDP when the UK has joined.
