Cycling to the train station today the pealing bells of @selby_abbey ricocheting off the buildings in the town square totally made my morning after a difficult few weeks. Thanks to all the bellringers!
Another totally original and brilliant concert from @SinfoniaSmithSq and @_MattBelcher. This seasoned pro was left alternately wide eyed and blinking hard by an epic yet deft piece of musical storytelling https://t.co/Q7g8z63rxu
I loved all that I saw of @BirminghamOpera’s New Year, but why were the published timings so far off? It was already 10 minutes over and showed no sign of ending by the time I had to leave for the last train home. Would have made very different plans had I known.
The crowdfunder for our project to record Dorothy Howell's String Quartet is half way to its target! The album will also feature music by her mentors, Tobias Matthay and John Blackwood McEwen. Find out more about Matthay in the 🧵below, or skip to the end to donate...
Just been to a wonderful recital given by @BerkeleyEnsembl @CHSunConcerts with beautiful music by Dorothy Howells - what an incredible composer! The Berkeley are crowd funding to record her works - the only musicians to do so.
It's only something in my eye... Despite appearances to the contrary, we've been plumbing the emotional depths of Elgar's darkly passionate Piano Quintet with the wonderful @simondcallaghan today, ahead of our Sunday concert at @ConwayHall
And we’re off! Help us to win back Dorothy Howell’s rightful place in the repertoire: donate now to our crowdfunder to make a premiere recording of her fantastic String Quartet and Adagio and Caprice. More here https://t.co/7Iy7VpMRsB
Can’t wait a year for our next Somerset course? Don’t panic! Our next London weekend course takes place 12-14 July and is now open for booking. Play side-by-side with us - Apply now! https://t.co/tCJTnuHzBJ
@dennzz@LoveInner Not sure like is quite the word. But you're absolutely right - for a seemingly monolithic work there are countless ways to kill your mum.
@ComposersEd I like Elgar, VW *and* twenty-first century music; I'm not sure setting up false dichotomies is the best way of recruiting new listeners to new work.
Very much looking forward to tomorrow’s Death and the Maiden with my wonderful colleagues from the @TheHanoverBand quartet. Catch us at @StationersHall tomorrow at 1pm. Tickets here https://t.co/74lewOVJa1
.@SouthTrains Great idea to have dedicated coffee cup recycling at Clapham Junction. Terrible idea not to tell anyone where it is. None of your signs telling me to recycle cups separately nor any cafe staff knew where to take them.
What a fantastic day so far on John Adams’ mesmeric Shaker Loops. Great to see @JoeKeenan33 and so glad he go the memo about minimalism-inspired clothing…
It's your last chance to sign up to @NonesuchOrch play Day on John Adams' Shaker Loops taking place on 7th September!
