@pharontis Sometimes when you are cold, you are only 30% cold. You have to learn to live in the warm parts. Similarly, The void is often only 30% void. It's okay to have some emptiness. In music, the silence between the notes is just as necessary.
the imagine dragons hate is crazy in this regard bc everyone turned riot down when they asked ppl to be on the soundtrack & imagine dragons literally went to war with their label to record this for arcane bc execs saw it as a silly useless cartoon

I never say fish sauce. I say patis. Even to foreign friends. If they can say gochujang, sambal, and hoisin, they might as well learn to say patis. They can and will learn to honor the magic that is patis with sili and calamansi. And yes, they should learn to say calamansi, too.
This is describing two different groups of men/people
Those who have been trying to cultivate a more nurturing community for men, and those perpetuating patriarchal systems
if men’s mental health mattered (to men) they’d be creating safe spaces for themselves and each other, pursuing therapy, and creating community. instead, they perpetuate the very behaviors systems that have handicapped them in the first place, refuse to support or create community amongst each other, severely damage the women in their lives who try to care for them, and attack women online for not doing the work for them in replies to tweets like the one below lol.
Unfortunately, people are not always going to be brave enough to tell you they're no longer vibing with you. Sometimes, you just have to read the energies, and leave the table. Take some initiative. Let go of the guilt of letting go. Have the courage to walk alone.
prior to ej, pole vaulting is virtually unknown to filipinos. he singlehandedly made a nation watch a sport dominated by europeans (at an ungodly hour on a weekday pa). thanks for vaulting for us T__T
conversation is an art form and it's a lost one amongst many people today. if you're "shy" or have "social anxiety" then you need to practice socializing because it's a skill like anything else. the more you define yourself as "shy" or whatever, the harder it's gonna get.
"I'm for public transport, but culturally we don't like it, so while I would like public transport in an ideal world, we have no choice but to rely on cars."
This is what passes for a "balanced" take among the commentariat. Intellectually lazy at best, dishonest at worst.
What can we remove?
Our bias is to always add more. More rules, more procedures, more code, more features, more stuff. Interdependencies proliferate, and gradually strangle us. Systems want to grow and grow, but without pruning, they collapse. Slowly, then spectacularly.
When a piece of trash drifts across the beach, it is our duty to pick it up so the next person can enjoy a pristine shoreline. When a thousand pieces litter the beach, it is too late. We can only lament the landscape. That’s just how beaches are now.
A good system is designed to be periodically cleared of cruft. It has a built-in counterbalance. Without this pressure, our bias drives us to add band-aid after band-aid, until the only choice is to destroy the whole system and start from scratch.
Why is it so much easier to add than to remove? Maybe because we attach our identity to what is visible. But there is a difference between the ornamentation that defines our style and the vestigial burdens we carry.
Remember those who did the invisible work of removing. Their legacy was not to build a sand castle, but to care for the beautiful beach on which we play.
