I have not heard any such rumors.

Here is what I can confirm from a verified source:

SBI was working on a God of War title with Sony, but it was cancelled some time ago.

Multiple Sony projects SBI was involved with were also axed, including projects that were already late in development.

SBI is now down to just five people due to a lack of clients.

Given all of that, I find this rumor highly unlikely to be true.

What the TV does by design:

— scans your entire home network continuously. in their test: one TV identified 38 unrelated devices including phones, smartwatches, printers, and thermostats belonging to people not involved in the test.

— collects the names and signal strengths of every nearby WiFi network, plus location data. all sent to LG Ad Solutions.

— runs ACR (Automatic Content Recognition) on everything displayed on screen. including HDMI inputs. your laptop, gaming console, or work monitor connected to the TV is being fingerprinted.

— one TV exchanged roughly 4GB of ACR-related data per month.

What the TV does that LG says it doesn't:

LG publicly stated their TVs "do not collect, record, or store ambient conversations."

Gamers Nexus found:
— the TV converts speech to plain text and stores it in on-device logs

— the microphone window stays open 10 to 15 seconds after talking stops, capturing bystanders who never addressed the TV

— the TV recorded room audio while the screen appeared off and the Ethernet cable was unplugged, then exfiltrated the file the moment it reconnected

The security vulnerabilities on top:
Beyond the designed behavior, researchers found remote code execution vulnerabilities in webOS that could allow a compromised TV to be weaponized as a covert listening device.

these sets are in hospitals. waiting rooms. boardrooms. hotels.

a surgeon asked Gamers Nexus where that leaves patient confidentiality.

Gamers Nexus has no answer. neither does LG.

What to do right now:
— disconnect your LG TV from your network entirely. route streaming through an Apple TV, Roku, or Fire Stick instead.

— if you must keep it connected: put it on a separate IoT VLAN or guest network so it cannot reach your other devices.

— disable the built-in microphone in settings.

— check your privacy dashboard and opt out of ACR and ad personalization.

— after every firmware update: recheck all of the above.

For everyone trying to pin this on the fans of the franchise, why do we need to treat people being paid millions of dollars with kid gloves for fear of scaring them off? Even as a writer, why the hell are we just excusing away anything artists do as “their vision” and how we can’t “scare them away” when they’re being paid more money than any of us will earn in our lifetimes?

They’re not your friends, they’re not people who need to be protected. They’re adults who know what they’re doing, and thus should be treated that way.

If this was wholly Zach’s original IP, then I’d say there’s some justification in letting him do what he wants, but he was hired to do a Resident Evil movie, and believe it or not, working on adapting an IP that is not your own doesn’t mean you can just do whatever and slap the label of the franchise on it.

The policy covers things like repeated or excessive demands, unreasonable requests for compensation or apologies, threats, insults, discrimination, sexual comments, personal attacks, and unauthorized visits to company offices.

Sony says it will continue to take legitimate customer feedback seriously, but it may stop responding to customers who engage in harassment.

For more serious cases, Sony may also involve lawyers or the police and consider legal action.

I ended up picking up this game a day early cause I called the GameStop the night before launch day to check on my pre-order, and they told me I could just come pick it up that night if I wanted to. I played it for hours with my buddies just swinging around before hopping into the main campaign. I felt like a kid again watching this cutscene for the first time. It was genuinely one of my favorite memories I have from that time in my life, and I can’t put into words how much I needed this version of Peter Parker when I first played this game.

All that to say, when I say I fucking hate the second game with a fiery passion, I have the right to say that. I wanted to love that game more than anyone. These gay writers at Insomniac took my favorite version of Peter Parker, and ruined him. I will probably never forgive them for that.
