Almost half a million rand in firearms and ammunition have been seized from two properties in a gated estate in Ballito.

Armed with search warrants, members from the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team, DPCI Port Shepstone, Durban Flying Squad, Counter Narcotics, District Detectives, Crime Intelligence and the Metro Police Drug Team raided the homes at the Zimbali Estate early today.

Two brothers were arrested in connection with the weapons.

One of the properties belongs to a security company.

This is what was found:

1 x black sauce shotgun firearm

50 x red shotgun rounds

20 x clear shotgun rounds

1 x 9mm firearm

1 x magazine,with 17 x rounds

2 x AK47 replica firearms

30 x live rounds

1 x 9mm C2 scorpion firearm

6 x magazines with 140 x live rounds

1 x live boom stunt grenade

1 x black 9mm P320

1 x rifle bag,with 15 x live rounds

709 x 7.62 live AK 47 rounds

422 x live 9mm rounds

164 x 5.56 live rounds

2 x magazines

Government of South Africa notes the USA Executive Order

The government of South Africa has taken note of the latest executive order issued by President Trump. It is of great concern that the foundational premise of this order lacks factual accuracy and fails to recognize South Africa's profound and painful history of colonialism and apartheid.

We are concerned by what seems to be a campaign of misinformation and propaganda aimed at misrepresenting our great nation. It is disappointing to observe that such narratives seem to have found favour among decision-makers in the United States of America.

It is ironic that the executive order makes provision for refugee status in the US for a group in South Africa that remains amongst the most economically privileged, while vulnerable people in the US from other parts of the world are being deported and denied asylum despite real hardship.

We reiterate that South Africa remains committed to finding diplomatic solutions to any misunderstandings or disputes.
