In the wake of a ban on Art Spiegelman’s MAUS, artist and writer @LeelaCorman wrestles with the importance of the iconic book—particularly the way it speaks to the descendants of survivors.

@ek_johnston I have her Paint the Sky with Stars album somewhere because that was the order I first listened to the songs in and now I cannot hear them any other way.
I just got my fourth email about the publication date of a book I'd preordered changing. I was feeling terrible for the author and went to look them up so I could hype their book a bit--only to discover this is a reprint I am waiting for and the author is dead.
I am still very excited to read the book though! It turns out it was written by a couple, Dorothy Blair and Evelyn Page, under the name Roger Scarlett. They are one of the first same sex couples to co-write mystery fiction.
The library, and we cannot stress this enough, is a place of voluntary inquiry; students are not required to read books from the library. Additionally, no book is right for everyone, but one book can make a significant difference in one life. 🙄 #RightToReadTX
