Um dos documentos liberados hoje no 5º lote de arquivos sobre OVNIs revela que o governo dos Estados Unidos demonstrou interesse em um suposto incidente ocorrido nas proximidades de Conde, na Bahia (Brasil), em novembro de 1963.

O caso envolveria a queda de um grande objeto metálico tripulado. Segundo o documento, um possível ocupante se encontrava morto em seu interior, vestindo um uniforme ou traje espacial com estranhos símbolos, e o impacto teria formado uma cratera de cerca de quatro metros de profundidade.

Diante da repercussão, a Embaixada dos EUA no Rio de Janeiro encaminhou o caso ao Departamento de Estado, solicitando que as informações também fossem repassadas à Força Aérea e à NASA para conhecimento e análise.

Dias depois, porém, outro documento registra que a investigação realizada pelo Consulado dos EUA em Salvador concluiu que não havia evidências que confirmassem o episódio.
