20 Things Barack Obama Did for Black Americans: The Record Speaks
For years, some have claimed that President Barack Obama did โnothingโ for Black Americans. The facts tell a different story.
Under President Obamaโs leadership:
โ The Black uninsured rate fell to historic lows through the Affordable Care Act.
โ Medicaid expansion helped millions gain access to healthcare.
โ The Fair Sentencing Act reduced unjust disparities in drug sentencing.
โ Clemency was granted to thousands serving excessive nonviolent drug sentences.
โ My Brotherโs Keeper was launched to support young men of color.
โ Billions were invested in public schools serving underserved communities.
โ HBCUs received increased support and federal investment.
โ Pell Grants were expanded, helping more Black students attend college.
โ Student loan repayment programs became more affordable.
โ The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act strengthened protections against wage discrimination.
His administration also:
