As a parent, don't try to live out your dreams through your children. Allow them to live their own lives and help them become well-rounded adults. Do what's truly best for their future development and well-being.

"You have to pay full price ... That's what commitment looks like. It's not when it's easy or convenient. It's when things are hard and things aren't going well." (Brent Venables)

Curt Cignetti shares a universal truth about habits and consequences.
"In life - you got freedom of choice, but not freedom of consequence."
"First you form your habits, then your habits form you."
Every choice and action you take compounds. The small decisions you make daily - preparation, work ethic, and how you respond - those become your habits.
And over time, those habits become your identity.
You're free to choose. But the consequences of those choices aren't optional.
Your habits are shaping who you become.

Competitive character is not โwanting to win.โ
Everybody wants to win.
Itโs whether your habits get sharper when youโre frustrated. Whether you can take hard coaching without making it personal. Whether you stop negotiating with the standard the second it gets uncomfortable.
Pressure doesnโt build character.
It audits it.
Nick Saban shares one of the best definitions of discipline and the two questions that determine your success.
"Discipline defined: Do what you're supposed to do, when you're supposed to do it, the way it's supposed to get done."
"Do the right thing, the right way, the right time, all the time."
Then he talks about self-discipline and the two questions to ask yourself:
"But I'm talking about self-discipline."
"We answer hundreds of questions every day that come down to these 2 things."
(1) "Here's something I know I'm supposed to do that I really don't want to do. Can you make yourself do it?"
(2) "And then over here - there's something you know you're not supposed to do, but you want to do it. Can you keep yourself from it?"
The willpower battle that you fight every day.
Self-discipline is choosing what you need over what you want in this moment..
"But we're talking about feeling versus choice."
"You're gonna do what you feel like doing or you're gonna choose to do the things you need to do to be successful. And there's a difference in that."
To achieve your goals, you need to choose daily discipline over motivation.
It means prioritizing your goals and what you want for the temporary discomfort of today.
