Worried about wrapping paper waste this #Christmas?
A 'scrunch test’ method helps identify what your wrapping paper is made of. If you scrunch wrapping paper into a ball and it stays closed, it goes into recycling. If it opens, it's made of plastic and goes into general waste.
Last week, Mitie Waste & Environmental held a carbon reduction workshop.
Topics covered the circular economy, carbon reduction and managing waste as a resource.
An excellent way for our team to bond and share ideas.
A successful day, thank you to all who attended!
#Carbon
Tomorrow, we are holding a carbon conference to learn about how we innovate to deliver circular economy solutions to clients and the carbon impact.
The day will be an opportunity for Mitie Waste colleagues to meet each other whilst learning about our part in Mitie’s Plan Zero.

In October 2021, Mitie undertook a large-scale uniform re-branding project.
We collected over 100,000 uniforms which were re-branded and distributed to our new colleagues across the UK.
We diverted a total of 60,000 tonnes of material from landfill.
Would your business benefit from instant access to waste data including carbon emissions?
At Mitie Waste, over 55% of our customers have moved over to our power BI platform which gives them instant access to their waste data including CO2 emissions from waste disposal.

What are we doing to reach #NetZero by 2025?
The implementation of ‘Bin the Bag®’ means we are cutting out the use of single use plastics. This saves 40,000 bin bags and 3 tonnes of CO2 a year which is fundamental to achieve our goal of net zero by 2025.

At Mitie, we have a solution to stop your redundant furniture and equipment from going to waste.
Our resource platform Waste Match finds cost effective, ethical and environmental disposal routes for unused furniture and equipment, by bringing redundant resources back into use.
We've trademarked our Bin the Bag® initiative. This helps to build Mitie's reputation as a key player in the fight against climate change and an effective trademark can influence the buying decisions of consumers and bring to mind positive, powerful messages about Mitie.
We are proud to announce we have been successful in gaining a RoSPA Award for the Waste Management and Recycling Industry Sector category. 🏆
A big thank you to our team who have made this possible and congratulations!
