BREAKING: Trump's $10 billion BBC lawsuit is BACKFIRING BIGLY and may force Special Prosecutor Jack Smith's January 6 evidence back into the courtroom

After making $16 million from Paramount/CBS to settle one of his frivolous lawsuits, Donald Trump figured he could keep suing media companies and rake in the dough from corporate CEOs who would rather give in than face a protracted and expensive legal fight.

But Trump got greedy and wanted a $10 billion payday from his next target, Britain’s venerable public broadcaster, the BBC.

What he's getting instead is a legal nightmare of his own making.

Trump sued the BBC last December, claiming a documentary on their news program Panorama, "put words in his mouth" by editing together portions of his January 6th speech delivered nearly 50 minutes apart.

He even bizarrely claimed the network used AI to fabricate his words — it didn't. The BBC did splice the footage, which sparked an internal investigation, the firing of some senior officials at the broadcaster, and the issuing of a written apology.

An apology simply wasn't enough for Trump, however. He still wanted that $10 billion.

Now his lawsuit against the British broadcaster is unraveling spectacularly.

A federal judge ruled this week that Trump must hand over detailed financial records from more than 400 companies tied to his family trust — because HIS OWN lawsuit claims the BBC's editing damaged his businesses.

You can't claim massive financial injury and then refuse to show your books. Judge Enjoliqué Lett wasn't buying the attempted dodge: "All of President Trump's brand, properties and businesses are impugned... Reputational, economic damages, all of that is now at issue in this case."

It gets worse. The same judge greenlit subpoenas targeting Trump's inner circle — Donald Trump Jr., Steve Bannon, and Stephen Miller — to determine what Trump actually intended on January 6th.

And now, in a third gut-punch within 24 hours, the BBC is demanding records showing exactly how Trump LOST his executive privilege claims during Special Prosecutor Jack Smith's January 6th investigation.

Smith's team had already gathered evidence establishing that the Capitol violence was "foreseeable" to Trump, that he "caused it," and that he made "a conscious choice not to stop it" once it began. If the BBC gets that evidence, Trump's entire defamation case collapses.

Trump built a career suing media outlets into silence. This time, he sued an organization willing to actually fight — and in doing so, handed prosecutors a roadmap straight into his finances, his inner circle, and his own conduct on January 6th.

Plus, the public may get another chance to review the evidence that Jack Smith amassed against Trump, evidence that judges appointed by the litigious president have made sure that he’ll never be held accountable for.

Sometimes a lawsuit is simply a trap you built for yourself.

The bill locks in deep integration across military technology, weapons development and defense supply chains.

Final vote: 216–212. Seven Republicans voted no. Several Democrats helped pass it.

Merging our military with a foreign country is a treasonous betrayal of our sovereignty.

Happy Independence Day!

There’s a story from the end of the Revolutionary War I want to tell as we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, and it’s one everyone in the world can learn from.

George Washington, at that moment, after commanding the American forces to victory, was the most powerful man in the new country. Many people talked about making him King of America.

Across the ocean, King George was sitting with an American painter, and asked what he thought Washington would do now that the war was ending. The painter said he believed he would go back to his farm.

The King said, “If he does that, he will be the greatest man in the world.”

As the war officially ended, Washington came to speak to Congress and said, “Having now finished the work assigned me, I retire from the great theater of Action.” He returned his commission they’d given him in 1775 - after more than 8 years of leading the Americans to victory without pay, and he was home at Mount Vernon for Christmas.

Of course, he was elected as our first President a few years later, and after two terms, showed the same selflessness again when he willingly gave up his power and went back to Mount Vernon again.

That’s true greatness. He had all the power in the world. But power, alone, does not make you great.

Washington’s greatness came from being a true servant - to a cause much bigger than himself. His greatness was his complete lack of selfishness.

The whole story of American Independence is a story of selflessness. It’s a story of people who set their self-interest aside and worked for each other.

We’ve all heard the line about “We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”

Apparently, Ben Franklin might have actually never said that.

But that’s fine, because the same mentality is right there in the last line of the Declaration of Independence, published on this day 250 years ago:

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

We mutually pledge to each other.

No one was in this alone. No one was in it for themselves. This was a group of people with different backgrounds who were in it for each other.

Today is a reminder: greatness comes from what we do for each other, never what we do for ourselves.

That’s a lesson that applies no matter what country you call home.

It’s a lesson that doesn’t require any law passed by a politician, because, let’s be honest, if you’re waiting for selfless politicians, I really hope you are not holding your breath.

All of us have the power to be there for the people around us. For our families and friends. For our neighbors. For everyone.

All of us can reach for greatness.

It’s as simple as looking beyond yourself, seeing past the mirror, picking your eyes up from your phone, and pledging to be there for each other.

Happy Fourth. May you all find your own version of greatness today by lifting each other up.

Pete Hegseth fired a three-star admiral with no reason given. On Wednesday, Mark Kelly endorsed her for Congress.

Her name is Nancy Lacore. She spent 35 years in the Navy, rising from pilot to vice admiral to chief of the Navy Reserve. Last August she was called into a senior officer's office and told Hegseth had ordered her firing. "There was no reason given," she said.

Within the hour she had cleared out of the Pentagon for good, one of the senior officers swept out in Hegseth's purge of the military's leadership.

In January she launched a campaign for Congress. Last week she won the Democratic nomination in South Carolina's 1st District, the seat Nancy Mace abandoned to run for governor and lose. The district holds one of the largest military communities in the country, and the Cook Political Report has moved it out of the safe Republican column.

Kelly knows exactly what she's up against, because Hegseth came for him too.

After Kelly and five other lawmakers filmed a video reminding service members they are not required to follow illegal orders, Hegseth issued the retired Navy captain a formal letter of censure and moved to strip his rank and cut his pension. A federal judge blocked it.

Hegseth could not touch the senator. So the senator is funding the fired.

Kelly endorsed Lacore alongside nine other veterans running for office, with a pledged donation to each, part of more than a million dollars he has put into races this cycle. Navy helicopter pilots. A JAG officer. A NASA chief of staff. "Veterans understand what it means to put country before self," he wrote. "These leaders did it during their time in service, and now they're answering the call again."

The purge was supposed to remove these people from public life. It is what's putting them on ballots.

You can fire an admiral. You cannot order a civilian to stay quiet.

Hegseth's order put her on the ballot in November. The irony is so sweet.
