The First Team All-CAA wide receiver from Elon joins the Yellow Jackets as one of their primary passing game threats. Recorded a 46-907-9 season with Elon last year, and at 6'4" 210 he's the biggest body Alberto Mendoza will have out wide. Known for his catch radius and big play ability, I think he can make a splash here in week 1 vs a Colorado defense that was 124th in total defense last year.

I think the obvious look here is that both teams want to run the ball after last year's matchup, but I think Deion comes in here guns blazing and surprises people. It's two teams that are looking to put the pieces together with large roster gaps from last season, I'll take the Jackets at home and the guy they brought in to be their alpha in the WR room. Did I mention he likely matches up with a DB for the Buffs that has almost no career playtime?

Pegan is being talked about as Utah's clear No. 1 receiver entering the opener, with beat coverage naming him the "starting point" of the passing game over returning options like Ryan Davis. His familiarity with McGiven's system gives him a real head start on the rest of the receiver room in Week 1.

The swing factor here is Utah's identity, they ran the ball 59% of the time last season behind a heavy rushing attack, so this isn't a pass-funnel offense. But as a big favorite over an FCS opponent, Utah is likely to score early and often, and a clear cut WR1 getting first crack at early game targets in a game that could get out of hand fast has a real path to 50 yards even in a run favoring script.
