2. Thanks, Team Blakey, for dropping this on the Swans on the eve of a final against the reigning premiers. Shows the kind of club commitment Nick demonstrated by being in that aforementioned room in the wee hours doing Gawd knows what.

The @sydneyswans Board and management must immediately reinstate the 5 players, apologise, and get on with winning the Premiership. They owe that to the players and the supporters. There is no future in being woke Sydney. Just play footy. @AFL
Two weeks of unhinged hysteria.
We still don’t know exactly what happened in that Pullman Hotel suite.
We still don’t know if anything beyond the alleged drug use was even criminal.
What we do know is this country is drowning in platformed hypocrites.
The moment anyone talks about the football fallout of the “Pullman Five” - Heeney, Jordon, Bice, Blakey, Warner - the commentariat shrieks that you’re punching victims.
Discussing the game is now “misogyny.”
That’s not justice. That’s a purity test.
Of course their status as Swans players is why this is wall to wall. That’s not a conspiracy. That’s how media works.
The same morning those five hired the “toppies” for a 4am hotel session, a woman leaving a Frankston gym was stabbed.
Hours earlier the same bloke allegedly stabbed another woman in the street.
Raaz Alizada charged with two counts of intentionally causing serious injury.
Scarce coverage. Almost zero activist noise. No wall to wall panels. No sponsors fleeing. No walkouts. No lectures about “what this says about men.”
Because they weren’t footballers.
These five were incredibly stupid. They betrayed partners. They paid women to come back to the team hotel. Club standards were shredded. Careers and reputations detonated. Fair enough.
None of that equals a criminal conviction.
The commentariat skipped presumption of innocence and went straight to cultural indictment. Every grievance about men got dumped onto one hotel room so the outrage machine could keep running.
That’s not protecting women.
That’s using them.
This is well expressed by Malcolm Knox on @sydneyswans fans being sold a pup - the virtuous (@AFL) footy club & how their great unravelling has caused disgust. I’d argue that we all participate (media too) in the grand delusion. They are just footballers. https://t.co/Ftne6qPDpM
The current allegations against the Sydney Swans players:
- They paid a stripper to slap her buttocks three times
- They slapped her buttocks a fourth time without paying
The whole incident is scummy, involving cocaine and hard drinking in the middle of the season. The players acted like gronks considering they all had partners, and they should not have slapped the lady’s buttocks a fourth time without paying.
That said, this incident objectively does not rise to the level of an atrocity. It’s not a war crime or a crime against humanity like the media is acting.
I thought the players had gang raped a woman. That is how the media initially depicted the situation. But the actual details of the incident do not rise to this level of seriousness.
We’ve had a week of endless news coverage now. Male celebrities are releasing statements calling on all Australian men to interrogate their own complicity in violence towards women.
As an Australian man who doesn’t do drugs, drink, or use strippers, I literally don’t understand how I have any moral complicity in this whatsoever. I don’t see how it involves me. Why do I need to interrogate my own conscience? I didn’t do anything.
This is becoming psychotic. Our constitutional head of state, the Governor General, even released a statement saying she was deeply troubled by the incident.
Yet an actual atrocity like the torture and murder of Oliver Conroy was basically passed over without any broader comment by politicians or leaders.
It’s reported in the papers this morning that the alleged sexual assault by the Swans player amounted to slapping the strippers arse 4 times instead of the agreed 3 times.
So in a week we have gone from a player (allegedly) knocking someone's teeth out with a marital aid - to paying for 3 butt smacks but giving our 4 ?!
WTF is going on?!
#swans
Swans stood P5 down for the season while the country relentlessly hounded 5 blokes because Isaac Heeney slapped a dancer on the bum 4 times while only paying for 3.
And we had losers on x posting think pieces from notes app with 1800 respect at the bottom.
Culture is broken.
At a wine bar for team offsite. Douchebag teammate just asked if anyone “tastes notes of cherry”
Brother I have two zyns in. This Pinot is giving hints of spearmint
Two incidents occurred in Melbourne on 17 August.
For one incident—the Sydney Swans allegations—ABC has published over 50 separate stories on its news website.
Yet on the very same day, two women in Melbourne were stabbed from behind in random attacks and hospitalised—and there is not a single story about these stabbings on the ABC website.
It’s time to defund the ABC—they don’t report the news; they peddle agendas.
