@akgop i want people to try but as all the cool stuff i've ever owned came from buying out peoples everything for one way fare out of here after the house freezes and the car freezes, i don't want my tax dollars going to HELP people stay.
@interiorpatriot that's what STV provides. rather than each district electing a seat, we pick the best 7 people in the city in one big election- by ranking your preference. repeat for each stage of government. that's how i think we should elect all legislative bodies. it beats two bad choices.
@RyanAFournier Everyone who works here gets those benefits, including foriegn workers who can go back home and collect their retirement. As one example i remember- there's a lot of Aussies who had to go to court to make their social security payments not a problem for becoming MPs.
@interiorpatriot I don't care how Aurora or Bjerrimark vote for the city council i want them all elected at large. I don't care how College or North Pole vote for the assembly I want them all elected at large. I want to be represented by a cross section of society not some partisan hacks.
This Affects Every Alaskan!!’
Anchorage Assembly members Felix Rivera and Randy Sulte are hosting two town halls, starting right now, in order to hear from people in the community on the 3% proposed sales tax. This Tax will have repercussions throughout our entire state. Every business throughout our state that buys their products from Anchorage will now be paying 3% more if this passes. Restaurants, Espresso shops, local resellers like Three Bears will have to raise their prices to cover this tax.
The first meeting is tonight at the Loussac Library's Wilda Marston Theather, starting at 6pm, and the second meeting is on Saturday, March 8th, at 4:00pm at the Mountain View Libary's community room.
All Alaskans need to be weighing in on the 3% tax issue, these are both great opportunities to have your voice heard before the Assembly brings this proposal to a vote and it finds its way onto the ballot for “Anchorage Elections Only”. This will have major repercussions around our state if it passes. This affects ALL Alaskans! Anchorage Assembly clearly don’t care about us. This is a cash grab to line the Special Interests Pockets!

Dear Canada, 🇨🇦
You may want to refresh your memory about the Shakwak Agreement with Alaska concerning our highway and think twice about charging truckers.
The Shakwak Agreement outlines specific conditions for the highways’ use and maintenance, funded largely by the U.S. for strategic access to Alaska.
One critical provision states that Canada agrees to:
- "Not impose any highway toll, or permit any such toll to be charged for the use of such highways by vehicles or persons."
- "Not levy or assess, directly or indirectly, any fee, tax, or other charge for the use of such highways by vehicles or persons from the United States that does not apply equally to vehicles or persons of Canada."
These clauses ensure that the Alaska Highway remains a toll-free corridor for U.S. traffic, reflecting its original purpose as a military and economic lifeline to Alaska. @GovDunleavy@AlaskaDOTPF
