Do you know that men often suffer from "Delayed Grief" because they aren't allowed to crash when the tragedy actually happens?
When a death or crisis occurs, the man immediately shifts into "Superman Mode." He is consoling the crying women, being strong for the children and trying not to look weak so he can strengthen people around him.
He postpones his own pain to manage the chaos.
By the time he is finally ready to grieve, maybe 6 months later, the world has moved on. If he cries then, he is told to "get over it." So he never processes it. he just calcifies.
Privilege blinds because it is the nature of privileges to blind.
- Chimamanda Adichie
Sometimes 9ja rich people are the problem with family related discourse. You probably earn N20m a month and your wife makes N1m monthly. Your monthly income exceeds her annual income. It is fine if you cover every financial expenses in the house. You earn more than you need.
Where it gets ridiculous is using your standard to advise other men in a country where over 90% earn less than N500k monthly. You expect someone that earns N400k to carry all the bills in his house when he could use the help from his wife that earns N200k or N700k. What is the point of family if money is more important than the union? Joining income may not even suffice to carry all the bills as the family still have to manage, but you want to worsen the situation by expecting the man to carry all the bills. What exactly is the woman using money for that is more important than family?
Even in privileges, it is okay to let madam use her money in sorting some stuff in the home because that is what people in love do. It is good for their heart, and when your money is being committed to a cause, your heart is even more rooted in it. Stopndeรงrivi g women of the opportunity to love. People who love you would not let you do that.
I dont know which is worse, the men who are fighting so hard to not be loved by their women to protect t their weak ego, or the women who are fighting with their life to not love their men and invest in their home home or money is more important to them than family. In the end, we will all accept the love we think we deserve.
The safest way to travel is by plane. Do you know why?
Because they crash.
A few months ago, I learned a concept called Black Box Thinking which is a system that defines how entire industries respond to failure.
In aviation, when a plane crashes, they don't just look for who to blame.
They find a device called a Black Box, retrieve the data, and then ask what went wrong with the system.
And there is a reason for this.
To explain this, there is a famous story of a crash involving an Asian airline years ago.
When investigators listened to the recording from the black box, they found the engine didn't just fail on its own, the junior pilot actually noticed a mistake.
But because of a cultural hierarchy in Asia that demanded absolute respect for elders, he didn't question his senior pilot.
Instead, he hinted and spoke softly and the plane crashed.
That tragedy changed aviation safety forever.
It moved the focus from "Who made the mistake?" to "Why did the system allow this mistake?"
As we stand on the 29th of December, looking back at 2025, I want you to adopt this strategy of Black Box Thinking.
Most of us look at our failures this year and feel shame.
We hide the crash, and blame the economy, government, or something that does not exist.
But Black Box thinking demands a harder question: "How did I contribute to this problem?"
Did I stay silent when I should have spoken up?
Did I rely on motivation instead of a system?
Did I ignore the data because of my ego?
Don't bury your failures of 2025.
Open the box and analyze it.
Because that is the only way to fly safer in 2026.
