Very little attention in UK media thus far to this story - low prominence, few details of injuries, who the victims are, where they were when the attacks took place, community reaction https://t.co/Lm2Bg1XSZv
Why Does a Suspected Anti-Muslim Attack Barely Make the News?
The political and media reaction to a knife-wielding man allegedly attacking Muslims in Edinburgh raises uncomfortable questions about whose safety Britain takes seriously.
The attack began near a mosque & ended with 5 people injured. Last night’s midnight bulletin on Radio 4 had the story half way down the running order and this morning’s 9 am bulletin had a 20 second read
It is profoundly saddening & disgraceful how clearly Muslims in Britain are shown the lack of value those working in our media & politicians place on their lives & their safety as compared to members of other communities. 😔
Sea Lanes Canary Wharf is a fantastic new open water swimming spot in the heart of our city.
This spot shows what is possible when we breathe life into our urban environment. I’m focused on cleaning up London's waterways and expanding blue spaces so we can enjoy our city safely. https://t.co/gcEfeYXYW2
The contrast between the coverage of the Edinburgh attack and the Golders Green stabbings is extraordinary. It’s impossible to see any explanation other than very crude, simple racism.
It's obvious to point out attacks against Muslims get ignored - but still needs repeatedly calling out.
An Antisemitic attack should be reported and action taken.
But where is the same media outrage, cobra meetings and calling of national emergency when 5 Muslims are attacked?
Yes.
If you're a bigot who wants to divide communities, a billionaire wanting to preserve your wealth or a "newspaper" that wants to preserve power: we're very sinister indeed.
To everyone else: feels a lot like hope.

Every stitch is a life.
At the anti-war conference in London, we met the women who hand-stitched the names of Palestinians killed in Gaza. The green names are children. Lives stolen before they had the chance to grow.
These are not numbers. They are people. Families. Dreams. Futures.
We do this work for every life taken, every family shattered, and every survivor demanding justice.
End the genocide. End U.S. support for Israel’s crimes. Free Palestine.
I met Fahd Abu Haikal, the father of 7-month-old Sam, who was murdered by the IDF earlier this month. He showed me the car with bullet holes and Sam’s blood and then Sam’s toys, which he hid to protect his wife from having to see them.

Amazing energy at our Greater Manchester launch for Mayor today.
Reminded me a lot of Gorton & Denton where the Green Party took on Reform and their billionaire donors - and we won.
Round 2!

🚨HEARTBREAKING :The mother of journalist Ahmed Washah bids farewell to her son after he was killed in an Israeli strike in central Gaza Strip.
Just two months earlier, she had also lost another son, journalist Mohammad Washah, who was killed by Israeli forces.
Way down the @BBCNews agenda. Not headlines, no national soul searching just a minor story. Why???
