Kikulacho Chronicles: Organizations Never Protect Whistleblowers!
πͺ³ I just used this since it is the nastiest bug I found. Anyhoo, Kikulacho means whatever eats/bites/ devours... And there is a Kiswahili saying that goes "Kikulacho ki nguoni mwako" loosely translated as "whatever bites you, is inside your clothes"
So, circa February 2015, Ebola response, Liberia. I was the Medical Coordinator of the IOM funded, Sinje Ebola Treatment Unit in Grand Cape Mount County. I was publicly humiliated and fired by the organization that had contracted us. Reason? I had relentlessly reported atrocities by an overt neo nazi who loudly, publicly and repeatedly called Africans the N word, or gorilla and kept verbally abusing the national staff we were working with. He had started doing this since November 2014, but was protected by the bosses all through, with the reports covered up.
I was repeatedly intimidated by the bosses of the organization, had been warned many times to cease reporting or else... π₯ I did not stop. Each time he insulted someone, I reported. Until one day, in February 2015 they finally decided that enough was enough πͺπΎ π
With authorization from IOM, they fired the neo nazi, the 2 senior admins (husband and wife by the way) and me. Oh they also fired another Kenyan staff... Collateral damage, to cover up the fact that I was the one targeted.
All I'll say is, stand up for justice, but remember that you may be the one facing the wrath of those who are supposed to protect you for trying to protect them.
Would I do it again? Heck yeah! Double f'ing yeah!!
Now, what bugged πͺ³ me (pun totally intended) was that the set up to get me fired was done not just by the racist Afrikener couple. The main perpetrators were 2 Kenyans, from my tribe!! And there it is... Kikulacho! What bothered them with me, the Kenyans that is... Was that I rejected the watu wetu rhetoric they were trying to push. Both of them were lazy asf! But wanted me to promote them to senior positions. They even sat me down (not unlike the Moyale incident where I was sat down by my juniors, told to help them embezzle funds or else β οΈ by π« to the head)... They sat me down and told me to demote the senior nurse who was from "murima", citing the fact that she was not our tribe. I told them I have only one tribe in the work place... The one that performs, regardless of their birthplace.
Well, they got me fired, not sure if that made their lives much better, but I recall one of their friends asking me for a job some years ago and I laughed π till I farted π¨
Those closest to you, can hurt you the most.

This is just typical racism and our leaders hate us so much that they're ready to sell us to the lowest bidder.
A killer disease with an 80% mortality rate being imported to us where paracetamol is a struggle? Where SHA is a SHAm and a SHAme? Where the government has looted all meds and supplies?
Why can't they spend that money on a yatch in the middle of some sea, there in the USA, send their sick there and have their medics treat them right there?
