Americans are fine with guns everywhere and shooting anything that moves on their property, but drunk people on a beach are suddenly treated like the biggest public safety threat imaginable. The hypocrisy around alcohol in the US is honestly ridiculous considering all the things that are objectively far more dangerous. Compare the danger of irresponsible firearm use in the US with European countries that also have high gun ownership rates. Maybe you should start worrying less about drunk people on beaches and more about giving guns to every idiot who can count to three.

You’re still mixing separate issues. EU budget transfers are not the same thing as eurozone monetary policy. The UK was a net contributor despite never using the euro, which proves the point. Also, “transfer union after Lisbon” is not accurate — EU budget transfers, cohesion funds and agricultural payments existed long before Lisbon. And the UK didn’t avoid the euro because of net contributions, but because it had an opt-out and judged euro membership economically/politically unsuitable.
