A message from George Earthy:

Hello everyone,

As a lifelong West Ham United fan, who had a Season Ticket for as long as I can remember and was once a mascot walking out at Upton Park with Mark Noble, all I ever dreamed of was playing for the first team one day.

With Kevin Keen, Gerard Prenderville and Mark Phillips as our coaches (in the academy), it was a time of really learning the game and enjoying it at the same time.

Some of my favourite years in the Academy – living the dream, playing for West Ham, but doing it with my mates.

We had an unbelievable bunch of lads and an amazing staff, which culminated in us winning the FA Youth Cup in 2023 – a special night playing Arsenal off the park at the Emirates Stadium, something I will never, ever forget.

I like to think the boys in that team will stay friends for life.

The day I had dreamed of since the age of five came on 14 March 2024, when David Moyes gave me my first team debut at London Stadium, as a substitute for Jarrod Bowen in the last few minutes of a 5-0 win over SC Freiburg that secured a place in the Europa League quarter-finals.

A magical European night for West Ham, for me and for my family.

Exactly a month later, I made my Premier League debut, an opportunity I will forever be grateful to David Moyes for.

Again off the bench, against Fulham at London Stadium.

Sadly, it’s not a day I remember much of…

Just a few minutes after coming on and enjoying some nice touches, Edson Alvarez’s hip accidentally knocked me out cold and meant I had to watch Match of the Day that evening from a hospital bed!

Thankfully, I got another chance at the end of the season, and this time the experience was a much better one – scoring in the Premier League, in front of the Bobby Moore Stand, in a 3-1 win over Luton Town.

A feeling I can barely put into words, even now.

That is the day I will remember more than any other as I look back on my time at West Ham United.

The emotion of seeing the ball hit the back of the net, the unbelievable roar from the crowd, and the realisation that I’d scored for my club, the team I’d grown up watching, going from celebrating goals in the stands to celebrating my goal on the pitch.

The afternoon was made even more special by the fact my best mate, Kaelan Casey, who I’d grown up with playing in the Academy since the age of five, also made his debut in the Premier League that same day.

The picture of us together on the pitch that day is one I’ll always cherish.

Now it’s time to move on.

After a couple of loan spells at Bristol City last year, which helped me grow as a player and a person, I’ve gained some good experience and I’m now determined to play senior football on a regular basis.

Leaving after more than 16 years at the Club is a big change, but one I’m ready for.

I want to say a massive thank you to all my team-mates, especially those that I’ve grown up playing with, a massive thanks to all the coaching staff, and everyone connected to West Ham United and behind the scenes.

Because they are the people that make this Club so special.

To the fans, I just want to say a huge thank you for your support.

From getting knocked out on my debut in front of you all, to then scoring the next time I was out there, was something special, and made even better knowing I had your support along the way.

As one of you, I know exactly what this Club means, so to be able to represent it as a first team player was very special.

My family, a West Ham family.

Nothing would be possible without you.

The sacrifices you made, the long journeys, the late nights at Chadwell Heath.

To be able to celebrate the special moments with you, like winning the FA Youth Cup and scoring in the Premier League, well, all of those sacrifices were hopefully worth it.

I’m leaving, but I’ll be a West Ham fan forever.

It’s my Club, it’s been my home, and I was just lucky enough to have fulfilled my dream
