@Finumus1 Interesting - I'd not thought of balancing exposure (although I had thought to prioritise spending from the SIPP). Double though? Doesn't 25% tax free allowance, personal allowance and basic rate band keep this down?

@RidyardMike Thanks - I've not directly bought gilts before but am interested. Agree ref averaging in and historic low price. My understanding is 30yr very sensitive to inflation and I'm trying to understand how to value running yield (less affected by inflation) vs yield to maturity.
