I am so concerned about the assisted dying bill. I know that there will be safeguards in place, and of course, I don't advocate the unnecessary suffering of anyone, but safeguards will gradually be eroded away over the passage of time, I strongly suspect.

It was wonderful to watch the election of the new pope yesterday. Today, it is equally joyful to welcome the news that HM the King has appointed the Rt. Rev Rob Saner-Haigh as the new Bishop of Carlisle.

My first civic duty in the Benefice of Egremont today as I prayed the traditional blessing to officially open Egremont Crab Fair. The fair began in 1267 under a charter granted by Henry III.

@currin_hannah @gprutter Sage advice indeed. I had avoided funeral ministry throughout my time as an ordinand. On Tuesday after ordination, I had my first funeral for a former colleague. Certainly needed that space afterwards.
