CapMetro August 2026 Service Change updates to Route 2 🚍

We are extending Route 2 along Springdale Rd between Oak Springs Rd and 7th St, filling a gap in service. This will make it easier to travel between East Austin neighborhoods, Eastside Bus Plaza and Downtown without extra transfers. It will also create more consistent, two-way service along the route.

Austin City Council is voting on next year's budget this week, between Wednesday and Friday.

Public safety is a major priority. EMS, Fire and Police are slated for close to $1B—nearly two-thirds of the General Fund.

The city is also proposing the maximum 3.5% increase in property-tax revenue allowed without voter approval.
