@abooker17 The landmarks are in West Virginia. Check a map. The Shenandoah River joins the Potomac near Harper's Ferry. The BR mountains cut through the same area. The song is generally about coming home to anywhere, but the symbol chosen is coming home to West Virginia.
This moment must’ve felt magical for Pulisic and the USMNT.
They’ve struggled for years to sellout matches. Many of their recent home games have skewed towards the away fans. Going from that to THIS?
🎶 To the place I belong🎶
a) The lrics would say, "northwestern Virginia." b. The song is about a road trip. The Shenandoah River and Blue Ridge Mountains are in West Virginia as well as in Virginia, even if a small amount. Someone on "country roads" from the east would encounter them. The song's author, Bill Danoff, said he wrote the song about West Virginia as he drove through Maryland, listening to country radio and thinking about the mountain state and its spirit.
QED: It's about going home to West Virginia.
Too many Catholics don’t understand how life altering and intimidating it is to go from Protestant to Catholic. You can lose your entire family and/or social group by doing it. Pray for people who are considering the change that they have courage.
@EduardHabsburg@CatholicArena The Spanish Inquisition involved heretical Catholics, not Muslims or Jews. There was a suspicion that some Muslims and Jews had falsely converted. If you think it was about Muslims and Jews, then you agree with the suspicion.
„Im Spiel sind wir Gegner, aber nach dem Spiel sind wir alle Christen, wir sind alle Brüder, und wir haben ein kleines Gebet gesprochen, weil wir glauben, dass Jesus durch das Spiel verherrlicht wird.“ Nmecha nach dem 7:1 Deutschland vs Curacao. Stabil 🙏
I would like to thank the people of Kansas for the warm welcome they have shown to Algeria. 🇺🇸🫶🏼🇩🇿
This may have genuinely saved the World Cup + shows what true World Cuo values should be about. 🙏🏼

There is a lot of “Paraguay isn’t very good” talk. Full stop.
Under Alfaro, they lost just once in WCQ and went 9 straight without defeat. They beat URG, Brazil, & Argentina.
They were one of the best defensive teams in the 🌎.
Paraguay isn’t bad.
#USMNT made them look bad.
@worldsoccertalk Your SoccerTV app is, as expected, excellent. However, your relegating Fox and Tubi to "Others," when Fox is the rights holder, looks petty.
It is also a disservice to your readers. The matches on Tubi (e.g. US-Paraguay) are free. Also, the FoxOne app is cheaper than others.
Little Rock fan Kale Twombly flew into Montgomery, caught an Uber to Troy and spent the weekend cheering on his team from the outfield.
Throughout the weekend, Troy fans noticed him in the outfield and made sure Kale was taken care of. They gave him rides back to his hotel after the games, fed him, checked on him and really treated him like one of their own.
On Sunday, Kale couldn’t find an Uber back to Montgomery to catch his flight. (Also couldn’t get a rental) Through the friends he made over the weekend, a Facebook post caught the attention of Executive Associate Director of Athletics, Adam Prendergast. The post asked if someone would be kind enough to drive Kale from Troy to MGM to catch his flight. Adam quickly stepped up and Kale made it back to the airport.
Kale left with an official game ball from the weekend and a lot of great memories!
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
🚨 The Islamic regime HANGED Iranian MMA Champion Gholamreza Khani Shekarab
They hanged Gholamreza today.
He was our MMA champion, a coach and international referee.
A real fighter who always made us proud.
They accused him of spying for Israel.
He had no fair trial.
They didn’t give him a real lawyer.
They only tortured him until he gave forced confessions.
They took one of our own and hanged him like he was nothing.
This regime is killing our people every single day.
This truly breaks my heart.
The world needs to know his name.
Rest in power, Gholamreza. 💔
There was a demographic problem 2,200 years ago, and Polybius wrote exactly what caused it. Read carefully:
"In our times, Greece as a whole is experiencing a lack of children and, more generally, a decrease in population. Because of this, cities have become deserted and there is a lack of productivity, even though we do not suffer from constant wars or epidemics. So if someone advised that we send priests to the gods to ask them what we should say or do to become more numerous and better inhabit our cities, he would not seem foolish, since the cause is obvious and the solution lies in our own hands.
People have turned to arrogance, greed, and laziness, and they neither want to marry, nor, if they do marry, to raise their children. Instead, they have only one or two children with difficulty, just to leave them wealth and raise them in luxury.
This evil grew rapidly, and we did not notice. For when there are only one or two children, and one is lost to war and the other to illness, it is obvious that the cities will inevitably become deserted, just as a beehive weakens little by little, so too do cities that lack population become unable to survive."

The similarities after 2,200 years.
People prefer partying, doing drugs, and living for today rather than having a purpose, building a family, and leaving a positive footprint in this world. They choose the easy life. At this point, it’s a form of natural selection between those who are worthy and those who are not to continue.
29 years in the US today.
In 1996, my parents won plane tickets in a literal lottery to leave Albania for the US.
They took my brother and I and with a thousand dollars that they had saved up, left behind their jobs, families, friends and everything they knew for the hope of a better life.
We didn’t know anyone and our only was option was to move into a hotel room. After a few weeks, we finally found an apartment for the four of us.
My mom, a former Architect, worked in a factory while going to night school to learn how to use a computer.
My dad, a former banker, worked at Logan airport returning luggage trollies.
After 3 years, my dad passed away, leaving my mom to raise my brother and I. She barely knew English, didn’t know how to drive, and worked 2 jobs while finishing night school.
Fast forward 25 years.
She’s worked as an architect for 25 years and has her own business.
My brother and I both got multiple degrees. He’s been a CFO and SVP for multiple public companies.
I went through YC, raised millions from investors and started and sold a startup and have angel invested in others.
America gave us the opportunity for a better life.
All we had to do was work for it.
Feel grateful everyday to be a part of the country in the world.
