Delighted to see that the government has righted this wrong. Thank you to @AlistairCarns and @AlexJJNorris for the cross departmental work on this. A good day.
Parents and families across the constituency have reached out to me to share their experiences of SEND provisions across Staffordshire.
That’s why myself, and a number of my Staffordshire colleagues, have written to the County Council Leader today.
Thank you to the lovely people of Morley Road in #Burntwood for the warm reception on the doorstep this lunchtime - always great to hear that people are happy seeing their MP out and about.
Important meeting yesterday, alongside other MPs, with @fbunational fire fighters from across Staffordshire to talk about the future of the brigade, the three rider trials, and how government can support the fire service.
Thanks to @CoalfieldsRegen for taking the time to talk about how we can work together to help support former mining areas like #Burntwood and #Handsacre.
I'm already looking forward to our next meeting!
@Jesusofbloxwich Hi Thomas, over the coming weeks I will be hosting advice surgeries to support those who are eligible for pension credit, to ensure they are claiming what they are entitled to. My team will also be on hand to support anyone who emails or writes to me for support.
Today I voted in favour of means-testing the Winter Fuel Allowance for pensioners.
In recent days and weeks, dozens of constituents on both sides of this issue have contacted me.
Please see this statement below explaining why I voted in line with the Government👇🏻
After 14 years of faltering from the previous government, and a failure to make us independent of fossil fuel dictators, this new Labour government is acting quickly to secure our energy independence and to bring bills down. Bravo @Ed_Miliband
The results are in, and the Government has secured a record-breaking 131 new clean energy projects in the latest renewable auction round.
This Government inherited a broken energy policy and we’re acting immediately to fix it, with the most successful auction round ever

Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has announced an extension to the #HouseholdSupportFund for the next six months
If you are in need of help, reach out to your local council to see what support they might be able to offer https://t.co/C0FeXKwNIY
I'm very glad to see that the Household Support Fund will be extended through this winter and will help support the most vulnerable people in Lichfield, Burntwood, and the Villages

This is brilliant. Giving parents more information about how schools are performing can only be a good thing, and tackling the high-stakes, simplistic judgements will support school leaders and teachers as they continue to improve the experience of children in our schools
🚨 NEW: We’re scrapping single headline Ofsted judgements with immediate effect.
Ofsted judgements have been high stakes for schools, low information for parents.
We’ll:
✅ Give parents more transparency
✅ Drive high & rising standards
✅ Pave the way for school report cards
We've got a huge job on to kick start a decade of national renewal and deal with a £22bn black hole in the public finances that was left to us from the Tories, but it was really heartening to hear from so many people who understand that real change doesn't come overnight
Took advantage of the weather to get out and about and chat to people in Burntwood today.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to speak to us about the difficult financial situation we've inherited from the previous government and our plans to fix the foundations of the UK.
Wishing all the luck in the world to everyone at @ParalympicsGB for the next 10 days. Another chance for GB to shine on the international stage, I'm sure each and every competitor will do our country proud
