Why does Thanos’ Black Order only have four members when the comics had five?

When Thanos arrives in Infinity War, his Black Order looks complete: Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, and Cull Obsidian.

But one member is missing.

In the comics, the fifth member is Supergiant, a terrifying telepath who could invade people’s minds and manipulate them from within. She wasn’t just another fighter, Her abilities made her one of Thanos’ most dangerous servants because she could turn powerful heroes against each other without throwing a single punch.

So why was she left out?

The likely reason is that Infinity War was already packed with characters and storylines. Thanos, the Black Order, the Guardians, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Avengers were all competing for screen time.

Instead of adding another villain, Marvel gave Ebony Maw the manipulator role.

So no, Supergiant wasn’t secretly hiding somewhere in the MCU.

She was most likely cut because four villains were enough to tell the story.

A cautionary tale about greed versus love.

A blonde woman in a leopard-print jacket enters a jewelry store, picks up a gold chain, and swallows it in front of the shocked shopkeeper in an attempt to steal it without paying. The shopkeeper calls for the doors to be locked. A mysterious wealthy man (later called Mr. Anderson) then walks in, pulls out a large stack of cash, and declares he will pay for everything the woman “buys.” He challenges her: he will buy as much gold as she can swallow.
Driven by greed, she starts swallowing jewelry one piece after another until she chokes and collapses unconscious. She wakes up in a luxurious mansion. The rich man explains that he saved her life by having doctors remove the gold from her stomach and invites her downstairs for breakfast.
At the table, a servant lifts the covers on two plates: one piled with pure gold jewelry and the other with food. The man tells her to choose. Without hesitation she picks the gold. He says she can take it and leave—or stay, keep all the gold, and receive a gold ring every day… on the single condition that she never eats anything. She accepts at once and begins dreaming of luxury.
Five days later, starving, she sneaks into the kitchen at night only to find the fridge empty. The servant (who had been ordered to watch her) catches her. Feeling pity, he secretly gives her a sandwich. They hide under the table when the rich man briefly wakes up and drinks water; they escape detection. From then on the servant brings her food every day, and the two gradually fall in love.
He buys plane tickets so they can leave the mansion and start a new life abroad. She is reluctant to abandon the gold but finally agrees. The next morning, as they try to go, Mr. Anderson confronts them, throws down a bag full of gold, and offers her even greater wealth plus the world’s best chefs if she stays. The servant urges her to choose love, but she once again chooses the gold.
Heartbroken, the servant leaves. Forty years pass. The woman is now elderly, still obsessively collecting gold, her greed unchanged. The rich man has died. The narration ends by noting that no amount of wealth can replace love, and that choosing gold over true affection was the biggest mistake of her life.

Natasha Romanoff d!ed on Vormir so Clint could go home to his family. She chose the fall knowing the soul stone demanded a life from someone who loved the other. After years spent trying to wipe the red from her ledger she found the one act that finally evened the score.

Vision was destroyed twice, first by Wanda to keep the Mind Stone from Thanos then again when Thanos turned time backward and tore the stone from his head. The being who only wanted a quiet life with the woman he loved was treated as nothing more than a power source both times.

Gamora was thrown from the cliff by the man who raised her so Thanos could claim the Soul Stone. Quill tried to keep the promise he made her but the Reality Stone turned his shot into bubbles. She spent her life running from that monster only to become the key he needed.

Loki spent years running from both his brother and his father then d!ed telling Thanos he would never be a god while the Titan crushed his throat. The god who built his whole identity on lies chose a stand in the last breath he had left.
