@SportsCenter@TheRealHoz35@PatMcAfeeShow The Dodgers are spending like this because it’s not coming from the owners’ coffers. They have the biggest sweetheart media deal in baseball that insulates their ownership from caring how much they give out in contracts or how much salary it takes on.
@305DOMI Ties are resolved by evaluating 1) Head-to-head record, 2) Intradivision record (games against teams in the same division), 3) Intraleague record (games against the entire league), and 4) Last half of intraleague games.
@CameronMaybin Get what your saying but it’s not an even playing field. Dodgers’s broadcast agreement alone pays out $8.35b over 25 years - that’s a ridiculous $334m/year. Of course their ownership group will spend $300+m in MLB salaries - they’re not paying it. Small markets pulling in ~$50m.
@BNightengale That’s feeds into a ludicrous narrative. Untapped spending attracts players at all levels to join the franchise as you guarantee a chance to win a chip. It makes you attractive on the international market & means you can offer top flight draftees bigger bonuses. Salary floor now.
@JimBowdenGM I whole-heartedly disagree this has nothing to do with unlimited funds. Easy to convince anyone to join a superteam w/out having to take a pay cut. Horrendous for baseball. I wouldn’t be surprised if attendance and viewership falls over the next seasons. Need a salary floor now.
@TheAthleticMLB One has to wonder at this point whether the Dodgers are good for baseball as a whole. This type of team building is impressive but only possible in certain markets.
@Zachppp This team is so stale…Losing twice to the Pistons in the season demonstrates this is not the team. You don’t see other elites doing that…Just think it’s time for a change somewhere.
