PHILOSOPHY IN MOTION: GEOGRAPHY, NOT HISTORY

“Gentlemen, we may not make history tomorrow, but we shall certainly change the geography.”

That line was spoken on the night of June 6, 1917, just before the Battle of Messines. British forces were about to detonate 19 enormous mines hidden beneath German lines an explosion so powerful it reshaped the earth and was heard as far away as London. The quote is often attributed to General Sir Herbert Plumer, but it’s the sentiment, not the speaker, that matters.

That’s the mindset.

As a political artist, I’m not chasing headlines or trying to carve out a place in the history books. I’m interested in shifting the ground moving people’s sense of where things stand, nudging the boundaries of the possible, and revealing what was buried.

Dyslexia helps with that. It doesn’t deal in straight lines or tidy conclusions. It moves through the edges, sensing patterns in the noise. It’s not about grand moments it’s about changing the terrain people stand on.

I might not make history.
But I’ll change the geography.

No, Ken they’re not that intelligent. Their reality is starting to show its limits. It’s like hitting a wall. Subconsciously, they might sense it, but consciously? You might as well be talking to a brick wall.

They can’t even grasp what you’re saying. It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing they simply can’t comprehend the ideas you’re presenting.

I might not agree with everything you say, but I’ve never thought your logic was inconsistent.

And in the end, we have to accept that we might be wrong too and that’s what allows us to think more creatively about complex issues. These people aren’t even aiming for the head of the snake; most can barely see the tail. Meanwhile, we’re going straight for the head.

It doesn’t matter if we disagree on certain points. As long as we’re all charging forward to slay the snake, we’re on the right side of history. Some of us myself included might have a few wild ideas, but that’s part of what makes the world beautiful.

The day is coming .

Philosophy in Motion: A Dyslexic’s Political Lens
“Tragedy Close-Up, Comedy in Long Shot”

Charlie Chaplin once said, “Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot.”

As someone with dyslexia, I find this perspective deeply familiar. We dyslexics are often accused of “missing the detail” but perhaps it’s more accurate to say we see things in long-shot. While others get tangled in the immediate mess, we’re stepping back, connecting threads, noticing patterns across time.

That same zoomed-out view is what fuels my art. I draw from history, satire, and contradiction. I question how systems present themselves versus how they behave over generations. Up close, it all looks chaotic like a tragic farce. But from a wider angle, it reveals absurdity, repetition… even dark comedy.

My work sits in that tension: between the immediate mess and the long-term meaning. It’s political, it’s personal, and yes it’s very much informed by dyslexia. Not as a disadvantage, but as a different lens.

I’m not laughing at tragedy. But I am stepping far enough back to see how ridiculous it all is and how urgently we need to talk about it.

Sorry, I stopped reading when The Guardian claimed the Labour government had a political mandate right as they were handing out candyfloss at a Tory-built theme park and pretending they laid the concrete. The Guardian’s just the puppet-rug of the elite these days good for sweeping up the mess, not much else. And as for the EU we’ll talk deals when they finally file a tax return like the rest of us.

Philosophy in Motion: The English Sent St George

They sent him not borrowed, not begged.
A symbol of courage, resistance, and mythic clarity.
And yet here we are, celebrating St George’s Day a week early...
Because the government doesn’t even know what day it is.

The Prime Minister praised Christians as though they’re a side group in Britain.
As if Easter helped “make” Britain, rather than being deeply of it.
And here’s the problem: this government thinks it can put people in boxes.
Religion? One box. Nationality? Another. Ethnicity? Another.

But I disagree.
As long as you're here on this little island, you’re welcome to be part of the honourable English whether or not you're technically “English” by birth.
If you believe in St George, you’ve earned your place as a proud Briton.
We’re stronger together.
Not divided.

But this government doesn’t see it that way. They divide and label us by religion, nationality, and ethnicity.
They forget that we are all individuals under English law, equal before the eyes of the land.
It’s about unity, not division.

And where was the Church of England?
Too timid to correct a simple feast day mistake.
No roar. No lance. Just spreadsheets and sermons no one hears.
So we’ll mark it on April 28th because England remembers even if the institutions don’t.
Dragons? We’ve still got them.
They wear suits now.
They speak in statements.
They peddle division dressed as tolerance.
But the English don’t flinch.
We never have.

The PM got it wrong. Again.
But England? England still stands.

DYSLEXIA, PHILOSOPHY, AND THE POLITICS OF REALITY

As someone with dyslexia, I’m no stranger to how easily information can get tangled, and nowhere is that more true than in political discourse. Reality, it seems, is not only negotiable  it’s practically a commodity, bought and sold by those with an agenda.
Take Rachel Maddow, for instance. I’m sure she means well, but when she spins a tale about Trump, tariffs, and Peter Navarro, I have to wonder if we’re watching political theatre rather than journalism. I’m no-Trump fan (far from it), but rewriting history for political point-scoring? Not so fast. Trump was banging on about tariffs and trade imbalances back in the 1980s, long before Navarro’s book Death by China ever graced the shelves. But of course, that doesn’t quite fit the narrative.
And this, dear reader, is where the trouble starts. Democratic supporters seem to have developed what any medically sane person might call “Trump Syndrome�� a delusional obsession with the man himself, as if he’s the cause of all their woes, rather than confronting the much messier reality of what he represents. Whether you like Trump or not, understanding why he resonates with millions is essential if we’re ever going to defeat him. Denial won’t do the trick.
As George Orwell famously said, “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” The truth, my friends, isn’t always tidy. But, as we shuffle through the muddy waters of political rhetoric, the most revolutionary thing we can do is ask better questions not shout louder.
And as an Englishman, watching my fellow Brits come down with Trump Syndrome is incredible. Especially now, with our current right-wing government in power, we find ourselves in a strange position where the Conservative Party is more left-wing than the current Labour Party. No one seems to be condemning Labour’s policies, even though they’re dramatically affecting the working class, which only drives them directly into the hands of reform. We’re losing the battle here as well. Great work losing any credibility with those who don’t have Trump Syndrome. And that’s the majority of the voting population in both countries  that’s why only your little echo chambers are in meltdown.

SAME TURKEY, DIFFERENT FEATHERS Lately, I’ve seen Obama being held up as the moral compass against Trump as if he was some great peacemaker, warning us all about the dangers of strongmen and bad manners. But when you spend more than three seconds looking at his record, it’s clear: Obama and Trump are two feathers on the same overfed turkey. Obama talked peace but delivered war: Libya bombed, and Gaddafi killed, likely under a white flag while Hillary Clinton laughed: “We came, we saw, he died.” Drone strikes expanded, with civilians caught in the crossfire. Yemen backed the Saudi-led coalition in a brutal campaign. Guantánamo? Still open. And that red line in Syria? Chemical attack footage was shaky at best, the UN had doubts, and Putin had to hand Obama a way out before he plunged us deeper. Then Trump came in, chest puffed, same playbook: Missiles into Syria, big arms deals with Saudi Arabia, Dropped the “Mother of All Bombs” in Afghanistan, Withdrew from the Iran Deal, ramped up sanctions after Obama had already strong-armed Iran into it. So let’s not pretend these two men weren’t dancing the same empire jig. One just wore a Nobel Peace Prize while he did it. As someone with dyslexia, I see patterns, not just headlines. Dyslexia, Philosophy, and the Political Storm: A Sketch of Trump’s Economic Battle
These are just initial thoughts and a pre-sketch, as I work through the layers of this complex issue.
As I reflect on my drawing process, I often think about how intuition and patience shape both my art and my thoughts on politics. Recently, I’ve been thinking about the clash of tariffs between globalists and those trying to break free from their influence.
Donald Trump, for example, has stepped onto his metaphorical pirate ship, attempting to escape the global system that has anchored the U.S. Meanwhile, the EU and China push hard to keep the U.S. locked in. But while Trump is a threat, it's the globalists who pose the greater danger. Acknowledging Trump’s strength and tactics helps us better understand the bigger picture.
Interestingly, 4chan discussions have been exploring Trump’s strategies how his tariffs could cause market instability, driving people to safer Treasury bonds, and deflating prices. These unconventional conversations offer a fresh perspective compared to mainstream media narratives.
For those curious, I’ve put together a short video of my latest drawing, which reflects these political shifts and how they’re mirrored in art. I don’t normally show my pre-sketches, but I thought I’d share this glimpse into my process.

DYSLEXIA AND PHILOSOPHY: WHY I'M PROUD TO BE ENGLISH - A WORKING-CLASS PERSPECTIVE

I was recently asked if I was proud to be English, and my quick response was, “Banning slavery.” This caught the person off guard, and they looked at me, puzzled. They couldn't understand how I could feel proud of my heritage, given England's involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. They assumed I should be embarrassed. But in that moment, I realized how misunderstood our history is particularly the role of the British working class. It was the very same working-class people those like my ancestors from Derbyshire who helped lead the charge to end slavery, not just in Britain but across the world.
So, I began writing this to explain why I believe being proud of my heritage is justified. While the British elite made fortunes from slavery, it was the working class that fought for justice, often at great personal cost. The moral outrage against slavery wasn’t just something that came from the wealthy it was the ordinary people of Britain, from the mills of Derbyshire to the coal mines of Wales, who pushed for change. These were the people who signed petitions, boycotted goods produced by enslaved labor, and created the moral and legal framework that led to the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.
