Protein is very popular as a health priority for Costco buyers. Diets like Atkins & carnivore have only expanded but become more general promoting Higher protein consumption. I see more huge bags of whey protein and just today I saw protein WATER! Maybe protein demand is spread more evenly to lower price options.

The Persian Gulf is closer but now we have essentially two small Air Forces…one attacking from Iran’s west and one from the south. Plus other countries like Bahrain, Saudi, Jordan and Israel. As best we can, without Afghanistan, we have Iran surrounded.

Most of the actual defenses on the carrier are very short range. A carrier relies on picket ships like frigates, destroyers and cruisers to be arrayed around it. The idea is always to have threats have to get past the other defensive assets to reach the carrier. Carrier launched Missiles are about 10-20 miles on a good day and even “Gatling guns” aka CIWS has a range around 1 mile maximum.

Carriers are very ineffective defense assets for a city. They’re not very capable of defending themselves, but with an array of 10 ships around them, they can protect themselves for 100s of miles. I think they’re relying on Israeli air defenses as a picket to protect the carrier.

The idea is to get as close to the targets as possible for offensive sortie efficiency but not too close to be an easy target. This positioning strikes that balance.
