@walterkirn Did you listen to Soderbergh's commentary on the Criterion disc? There are some interesting points he makes. One idea is that Baron Kurtz and Dr Winkel are lovers. The cutaway shot of the dog in Winkel's apartment is a clue. Maybe far reaching but interesting to ponder.
@walterkirn Best film ever made. Every single department is hitting on all cylinders, creatively speaking. Art Direction, Music, Cinematography (won an Oscar), Editing, Script, Directing, Acting. And all in 100 minutes. Many of today's "auteurs" could learn from this film.
@SeanFennessey One of the most beautiful 4K transfers I've seen. The 4K of Diva looks spectacular, too. Hard Boiled and The Killer in 4K never looked better. I could go on...but I'll stop
@TheCinesthetic Worst opening ever. Why have the most vulnerable family member walk last? Not next to you or in front? BC of the toy, another stupid idea. JK removes the batteries and leaves them within easy reach of the kid. Why not pocket them? Ridiculous.
@RosvoglouReport The Raging Bull of table tennis movies. Gave off a lot of RB/King of Comedy/Wolf of Wall St Scorsese energy and vibes. The casting is brilliant esp in the smaller roles
@LRiddickESPN You called it when they drafted him. You're Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park (upon seeing T-Rex): "Boy, I hate being right all the time." Kudos.
@storyandplot Hate to burst your Alien egg/bubble, but the original script by O'Bannon was extensively rewritten by Walter Hill & David Giler. OB's original script is awful. I have a copy. The only scene that survived was the chest burster. It's the reason the film was made.
@DanSchneierNFL Well, the sack charged as roughing the passer overshadows everything else. That play is the one being talked about well after the game was over.
@Realrclark25 He still throws behind WRs, throws hospital balls to both RBs and WRs, misses wide open WRs in the end zone, and is the King of Red Zone FGs. Oh, trust me, we ARE paying attention. D won the game today.
@EmmanuelAcho Your post held up SO well. LOL. He later fumbled and the Saints returned for a touchdown and the Giants lost. Granderson had the last word bc who ended up at the end on their a$$? You're welcome
@LangmanVince These auditions for Star Wars were done at the same time for Carrie. DePalma sat in on the auditions with Lucas since they were both looking for actors in the same age range. William Katt (reading for Luke) ended up in Carrie.
