AI can obviously drive a lot of benefits for society, such as innovation, efficiency, and much more. We should just be cognizant of its costs as we make our decisions, individually and collectively. #losangeles#ai#weho#chatgpt
I took this photo a few months ago when I came across a disabled food delivery robot from @ServeRobotics. At the same time, two @Waymo taxis drove by in the distance. The moment seemed like a view into what the future may hold for everyday life. #ai#la#weho
@thecommonsearth recently stated that a 100-word email generated by ChatGPT-4 uses about one bottle of water. Energy use is already rising and tech companies are investing in new data centers to serve increased demand.
While visiting Munich last month, I was pleasantly surprised to see a whole fleet of electric buses driving around the city. The @DaimlerTruck eCitario G in the photo has space for up to 146 passengers and a 220 km range. Props to Munich! #ElectricVehicle
I ran into the @evolectricnow team a few weeks ago and had the opportunity to see their #CircularEV in person. Instead of starting from scratch, the company removes an existing diesel powertrain and replaces it with a 100% electric one. #electricvehicle#fleetelectrification#ev
Sometimes #greenwashing is hard to spot, but other times it is painfully obvious and almost comical. One gas station I spotted in LA fell into the later: “Conserv Fuel”. Would this count as greenwashing? Or is it actually a call to action to reduce fossil fuel use?
The Palo Verde Nuclear Station west of #Phoenix ranks 1sts in power generation in the US according to 2021 @epa#eGRID data. That’s a lot of carbon-free energy coming from the 4.21-gigawatt facility in Mariposa County. @apsfyi#nuclearpower#nuclearenergy#epa#arizona
Last week, I saw a @Tesla#Megapack powering Superchargers! Tesla prepared for the holiday rush on I-15 between LA and LV with these mobile units. Seems like a good application for emergency situations, too. None were in use as permanent chargers had capacity while I was there.
The speed, power, and luxury do come at a cost with a starting price of $74,900. The factory itself is working to achieve a third phase of production capacity that will be capable of producing nearly 400,000 units per year.
As any energy nerd will attest, a road trip should include visits to iconic energy infrastructure. Last weekend, I visited the @LucidMotors “AMP-1” #ev production plant located in Casa Grande, about an hour drive south of Phoenix. #lucidmotors#lucidair#electricvehicle
@LucidMotors is a growing manufacturer of #electricvehicles, starting with the “Air” sedan. The Air has the longest range of any luxury electric car in the world with 516 miles. Max power of 1,234 horsepower will push the 5k+ pound sedan zero to 60 in as little as 1.89 seconds.
Last week, @dgplusdesign had our 3rd annual retreat with all 11 team members in #Portland, #Maine for three days of fun times, group activities, and work sessions. A major highlight included a trip to the 4.3 MW South Portland #landfill#solar project by @revisionsolar
@zeta_2030 is encouraging everyone to capture photos of #EVsInTheWild as part of #NationalDriveElectricWeek. Today, I saw one of the many electric @FedEx delivery vans around LA provided by @brightdrop. If you look closely, there are actually two other #EVs in this photo.
It’s so incredible to look back and see our journey at @dgplusdesign over the past three and a half years. The B Corp Certification process opened my eyes to so much more than I could have imagined as a business owner. Thank you @bcorpuscan.
