Our @TheLancet paper out today showing the cost-effectiveness of targeted over mass spraying for #malaria control. Exciting possibility to free up scarce resources in low-transmission settings to better achieve #elimination @jackiemcook @WITS_Malaria

Targeting spraying for malaria control is safe, less costly, and cost-effective compared with standard spraying
With low incidence, these funds could be spent elsewhere🦟

Read an excerpt of my new book, if you like. Although they've helpfully picked the bit that contains the longest sentence in the entire thing. I promise it's not all like this.
@mayorofhackney@hackneycouncil After seeing the video today of @wfcouncil's efforts to make cyclelanes safe from snow and ice (https://t.co/M4pnNGOfJs), I'm wondering why Hackney's prioritisation page doesn't list cyclelanes at all (https://t.co/z5vSX4zcEz)?
A very important @NEJM paper on 528 #monkeypox cases in 16 nations indicates sex between men drives the outbreak.
98% were gay or bi men, 75% were white, 41% had HIV. No women.
95% of cases thought to have transmitted during sex.

Discussion: Golden kiwifruit is always delicious & even better when chilled, the colder the better (within reason). Results robust despite sample size & non-blinded design. Likely generalisable to normal kiwifruit and maybe other fruit.
3/3
Hypothesis: in hot weather, golden kiwifruit are even more delicious when cold.
Setting: London, 19 Jul '22, 39° C.
Method: 3 golden kiwifruit bought; 1 kept room temp, 2 fridge for 6h of which 1 then put in freezer 30 mins. All 3 sliced into quarters & eaten in random order.
1/3
Primary outcome: Personally-observed deliciousness.
Results: Room temp golden kiwifruit is delicious. Cold golden kiwifruit is very delicious. Very cold golden kiwifruit is oh so stupendous.

@mikiebarb I usually enjoy your podcast but discussion of reproductive rights by 2 people without uteruses is part of the problem.
Could you not find a legal analyst whose rights weren't the same today as they were yesterday?
An important call for us all to do better, "resist oversimplified dichotomies, and instead use nuanced terms that recognise the vast variations among countries and people, and respect how people want to be described"
@qantas rebooking a flight from LON to PER, to see family I haven't seen for 2yrs. You cancelled a previous flight and gave me Flight Credit in May 2021 instead of refunding me. I want to use this credit but it's still "being processed". How much longer do I have to wait???
Hate is a strong word. But the racist relying on black English footballers to bring them glory as if they were their servants, then turning on them as soon as they fell short of their dreams, have my deepest contempt.
"Without challenging the origins of racial differentiation, health institutions have deepened the stigmatisation of racialised groups with framings such as “Black mothers are more likely to die than white mothers” instead of “structural racism is killing Black mothers”. "
