smart take... until you look deeper..

this isn't just about "men are lazy" vs "women are focused."

that's a very surface level take...

the pressure on young Nigerian men today is on a completely different level..

a typical young guy is not just thinking about survival, he’s thinking:

"how do I take care of my parents?"

"how do I not look like a failure among my peers?"

"how do I afford the kind of lifestyle that gets me respect?"

"what kind of man am I if I can't provide?"

now add social media to it..

everywhere you turn, it's:

your mates buying cars

soft life content

"what do you bring to the table?" conversations

women openly saying they don't want a "struggling man"

so when a guy hears N150k/month, in his head that's not "starting point", that's "this life no go ever move forward."

that's where the problem starts...

instead of seeing a ladder, he sees a dead end..

so he starts looking for:

faster routes (Forex, betting, crypto)

or worse, illegal shortcuts

and it's not because he's stupid (even though some of are), but because he's under pressure to become something fast..

on the other hand, women are playing a different game entirely..

a young woman can:

take a N100k – N150k job

build experience gradually

still be socially accepted while "figuring life out"

there's no intense societal expectation for her to be the primary provider at 25..

that difference matters more than people want to admit..

so yes, more women are applying for jobs..

but it's not just discipline...

it's also because: they can afford to play the long game without being judged as harshly..

meanwhile, a man playing the long game is often seen as "not ambitious enough."

that being said…

a lot of guys are still making bad decisions, no doubt..

Ignoring skill-building completely and chasing vibes is a losing game long-term...

but if we want to fix this, we need to address both sides:

= the unrealistic pressure on men to "arrive early"

= and the lack of patience/strategy in how many men approach growth

cause' right now, a lot of young men aren't lazy…

they're just trying to escape a system that makes them feel like being average, even temporarily - is unacceptable.

and that's a dangerous mindset long term..
