Canada and the U.S. are telling almost mirror-image stories about who blew up the deal.

USTR says Canada “declined to finalize” terms already agreed earlier this week, introducing “new demands and walk backs.”

Carney says the opposite: the U.S. made last-minute changes to terms Canada thought had been settled.

And remember: Greer was saying earlier this week that the U.S. was “really happy with where we ended up” and believed it had “reached an agreement,” while reports today suggested Lutnick who loathes Canada thought the U.S. could extract more.

lol GUYS Trump has been against free trade for like fifty years (literally). Vance doesn't care if toasters are expensive. None of this is new.

I'm begging you all to accept this fact and evolve to a position of making hard choices in the real world.

He loves tariffs. We are way smaller than they are. Our job is to push for lower tariffs and lower trade barriers within the context of a clearly weaker bargaining position. That's it! That's all there is.

We can't keep dying of shock every time they tell us who they are and what they believe. Or like, people can, but get out of the way while grown ups sort out what to do about it.
