@Clarklynd @Agridome @globeandmail Have 4 family members dairy farming in🇨🇭 , they need subsidies to survive. Some get bigger cheques from the government than from milk production. Milk price is always lower than ours. None of our family have been able to increase the number of cows because of land constraints.

@SHittersum @LeeLaframboise @RDykxhoorn @lintfield Yeah that’s the main reason and limited availability of wheat straw locally. We also found the stalls to be a bit drier compared to wheat straw.

It’s probably close to 50/50 here but more cows in free stalls.

Lots of 1-3 robot free stalls have gone up to replace tie stalls the last few years around here
