"Ethanol is why Americans are getting screwed at the pump” is a heck of a claim when you leave out the value of octane. Refiners produce lower-octane gasoline blendstock and use #ethanol’s high octane to bring finished gasoline up to spec. Octane isn’t free. And lately, it REALLY isn’t free. At today’s octane values, #corn ethanol is SAVING drivers ~40–60¢ per gallon at the pump. Thanks to Will Faulkner of Carbon Acumen for the chart and math.

This could end up in a disaster if farmers take this literally.
