Last week, my 7th grade science classes designed their own labs using the scientific method. Shockingly, all the classes decided to see which pop reacted most with mentos. The kids had a great time setting them up, and letting them react. The big winner: Root Beer!
Continuing to do labs live online... this week students were trying to figure out the different chemicals that make up a mystery substance through it’s chemical properties...And boy did they snoop it out. #CSIPCA#ThePCAWay@PghClassical @PghSuptHamlet @PPS-news
Virtual Lab Day! Students loved guessing which liquid (water, salt water, vinegar, vegetable oil) would have a chemical change with steel wool. Which one did you think would react? #ThePCAWay@PghClassical
We are excited to share that despite the challenges facing schools this year, we’ve distributed $4.4 million worth of supplies to students and teachers at schools in need!
Not nearly as fun doing labs by myself without the kids here, but I was still able to show them the difference between an earthquake’s P wave and S Wave. #longdistancelabs#ThePCAWay@PPSnews
Students were able to observe physical changes this week in science class. They got to observe air expand & contract. Plastic float & sink w change in temp. Model particles with blocks. And play a simulation of particles online thanks to @phetsims . @PPSnews#PCAAllday
PCA 7th grade students had an amazing time these past couple weeks looking at chemical and physical properties of different substances. They really have gotten their hands dirty getting into chemistry. #PCAAllday@PPSnews @PghSuptHamlet
The last two days, @PghClassical students have really gotten into chemical and physical changes. Here they are trying to figure out a mystery substance by comparing its chemical properties to 5 other known substances. #PCAAllDay@PPSnews
Students had to create their own lab using the scientific method, variables and constants. Two groups chose to see the difference types of pops have on mentos/pop. One chose how different detergents effect slime. One did elephant toothpaste using different dish soap. #PCAAllday
My students are hard at work today using @quizlet . They are trying to memorize the parts of a cell through review games. They are having a blast! @PPSnews@PghClassical
Students getting to see some amazing parts of organisms up close. Then, trying to figure out how these parts help the organism survive. They will eventually connect it all together to see the parts of a whole system. #PCAAllDay@PPSnews
@kdkaradio Sorry, I don’t know who else to contact but I was interviewed on your radio station yesterday. The clip on your website has my name as Ryan Davis when it is Brian Davis.

What an amazing day for gardening! The @growpittsburgh crew came out and helped us harvest chives, pea chutes, collards and mint. Then we planted our summer crops and even built a fence to stop the deer from eating them. Students had a blast! #PCAAllDay@PPSnews @PghSuptHamlet
So surprised to receive gifts for #teacherappreciationweek. One student bought me two new books at the book fair and another gave a gift card...
😳🥺
I’m not crying, you’re crying...

What a beautiful day for gardening! Thanks to @growpittsburgh and Farmer Ray for helping us plant our spring crops. The kids had a blast! @PghClassical@PPSnews @PghSuptHamlet @drnecciai
