Great to see @Demos@HealthFdn arguing for ring-fencing and protecting investment on prevention, developing ideas I, @Davrob5 and the EATF have been making for years. I rewired the spending rules in Brown’s Treasury, so know this extra rewiring is possible https://t.co/W70DLjWHfC
Best decision in 2024: changing the fiscal rules to allow borrowing to invest. I hope in 2025 they’ll confirm that spending on prevention is included. For too long, govts have cut back things that save money and create wealth, when borrowing to save more later would make sense.
Good to hear @LaylaMoran@BBCr4today calling for changes to Treasury rules to encourage investment in prevention: ring-fencing and protecting it and including it in the fiscal rules’ definition of investment. I’ve been arguing for this for over a decade and hope the time has come
