Minister Osman Saleh briefs members of Diplomatic Community
Foreign Minister Osman Saleh today briefed members of the diplomatic community residing in Asmara on Ethiopia’s ongoing violations and infringements, which he said are deliberately directed against #Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as their implications for undermining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
In his briefing, Minister Osman stated that, over the past three years, the Prosperity Party had repeatedly declared its intention to pursue all possible options, including the use of force, to realize its ambition of securing what it calls “sovereign access to the Red Sea.” He stated that the party had now effectively declared open war against the peoples of Eritrea and Ethiopia. He emphasized that such unlawful actions contravene the principles of the United Nations Charter and violate the 2018 Agreement on Peace and Friendship signed between the two countries.
Citing statements made by senior Prosperity Party political and military officials, including the Prime Minister, rejecting Eritrea’s sovereignty and expressing their intention to take control of the Red Sea and the port of Assab, Minister Osman outlined examples of such statements. He explained that these ambitions pose a serious threat to Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and constitute a grave danger to regional peace and stability.
Minister Osman further recalled that the Charter of the United Nations, particularly Article 2(4), prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. He explained that the dangerous and expansionist policy being pursued by the Prosperity Party against Eritrea constitutes a flagrant violation of this fundamental principle and must be condemned.
Regarding the ‘Pretoria Agreement’, signed in November 2022, Minister Osman explained that it was concluded between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). He reiterated that Eritrea was not a party to the agreement and had no role in its implementation.
Minister Osman stated that the Prosperity Party was providing sanctuary, as well as military and logistical support, to armed groups operating in Ethiopia against Eritrea. He further noted that the party was engaged in military activities that fuel regional conflicts and exacerbate instability in the Horn of Africa.
Addressing the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Eritrea and Ethiopia, Minister Osman explained that, since May 2026, the Ethiopian Embassy in Asmara had ceased responding to official correspondence from Eritrea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and had severed communications with the ministry. He added that, on 8 August 2026, the embassy closed and departed Eritrea without notifying the Eritrean government.
He further stated that, on 1 October 2026, the Prosperity Party expelled all Eritrean diplomats, including officials assigned to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). He emphasized that this constituted a flagrant violation of the agreements governing diplomatic relations with the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
In conclusion, Minister Osman referred to the statement submitted by the Government of Eritrea to the United Nations Security Council on 9 October 2026. He called on the Council to take the statement into consideration, strongly condemn Ethiopia’s hostile policy, and adopt appropriate deterrent measures in accordance with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. #Eritrea #MOI

The people of Eritrea are peace-seekers who pray to the Creator for peace in our region and across the world. But our commitment to peace must never be mistaken for weakness: Eritrea will not surrender a single millimeter of its sovereignty.
Foreign Minister Osman Saleh gave, today, a briefing on Ethiopia's unprovoked acts of aggression and its geopolitical ambitions to the Diplomatic Community in Asmara.
In his extensive briefing, FM Osman elaborated, with substantive details and evidences:
- the Ethiopian regime's repetitive and provocative pronouncements - by senior Prosperity Party political and military officials - for three long years on their belligerent strategy for acquiring "sovereign access to the sea";
- these ambitions and accompanied saber-rattling constituted a declaration of war against Eritrea in flagrant breach of the UN Charter and relevant provisions that prohibit the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity and political independence of any UN Member State;
- the Prosperity Party regime continued to provide sanctuary, as well as military and logistical support, to an assortment of inconsequential opposition groups;
- the regime was further engaged in proxy military activities that fuel regional conflicts and exacerbate instability in the Horn of Africa.
@reda_getachew exposed #Ethiopia@AbiyAhmedAli "If the war stops; Abiy can not even survive for three day in peace time, people will question & remove him. War is Abiy’s modus operandi"...
Potemkin Party's broken gramophone continues to play the same stale chorus!
Today, it is the turn of Ethiopia's Commander of the Air Force to brazenly declare the impending invasion of Assab; oblivious that this pronouncement constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter on the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity of a UN Member State.
In some ways, these statements increasingly look as mandatory rituals of allegiance to the PP's agenda of war and conflict by the Army's top brass.

Decades of bloodshed. Countless families shattered. Entire generations sacrificed. Communities destroyed. Futures stolen. Yet Ethiopia’s rulers seem determined to ignore the lessons of their own bloody history.
**Development cannot be achieved through intimidation, territorial threats, or military aggression against your neighbors.** No nation can build lasting prosperity by destabilizing others while its own people continue to pay the price of endless conflict.
The tragedy is not that history has failed to teach Ethiopia’s rulers. **It is that they repeatedly choose arrogance over wisdom, confrontation over cooperation, and the pursuit of power over the well-being of their own people.**
There is nothing new about this dangerous mentality. History is repeating itself, and once again, ordinary people risk paying the ultimate price for the reckless ambitions of those in power.
**A government that cannot learn from the devastation of yesterday has no business gambling with the lives of tomorrow.**

The body of evidence of Abiy threatening to take #Assab, #Eritrea by force is innumerable, but what he says internally and to the international community is different in language.
The following is just one example of him asking #US, #China, #Russia, #Europe, #Africa, to act as intermediary and resolve the issue. He goes on to say ....If they refuse to take us seriously & continue to waste time, they should not expect us to sit idly,I don't think so’
The following is a verbatim translation of his speech in his parliament..
‘It is possible to resolve it legally and negotiation! I have spoken to many countries bilaterally. If the council wants to know the identity of these countries…
I have spoken to #America, #China, #Russia, #Europe, #Africa… and I want to say before the Honourary Council that Ethiopia’s access to the sea is beyond question.
Because I prioritise peace and negotiation before anything, I have politely asked them to act as intermediaries and help resolve the issue.
This is our question! If they refuse to take us seriously & continue to waste time, they should not expect us to sit idly,I don't think so’

Ato Bacha.. Shaebia remembers, Warsay (ተጨፈጨፍን) remembers, Sahel remembers, the archives remember, & history remembers!! A soldier who danced in front of his captors EPLF shouldn't be lecturing anyone about military pride not in million years!
For #Ethiopian|s who genuinely want to understand #Eritrea|n history, this video is worth watching with an open mind.
History matters, especially when it is misunderstood.
