@Imani_Barbarin Superb thread. Thanks.
For Alice. My amazing, talented, funny daughter.
Alice is an art graduate and art teacher.
And needs work.
She has sent 100s applications.
Nothing.
Why?
Alice uses crutches
See Alice as the person. The teacher.
Not. The disabled one

@FreyasDisciple@StoppingAbuse1 I'm so sorry.
I couldn't not post a comment.
And I couldn't just , like, your comment as I'm horrified.
Absolutely horrified. For you both.
I've heard too many , often single mums, lose their children. Too many. And each time I hear this , it just gets worse .
@GrandCamouflage Thank you.
Do any independent studies even exist?
And is it possible to create a study , a long term study to involve adult adoptees ?
As often a breakdown occurs at the age of 16/17 /18 ? Which is not recorded.
What about the rights of the child.
Taken.
Put with strangers.
Strangers then rehome poor boy to...more strangers?
@ScottishAAM@GrandCamouflage stats on this ?
@Dawnmillward2 Statistics on adoption 'breakdowns' (sic) are not routinely collected. Finding out has taken research into published statistics, or commissioned studies. UK Gov reckons 3% (on old data) whilst others put it 9-10%. Variation by age, location, etc. 'Forever' isn't always forever.
Thanks Michael.
No stats are collected on breakdowns.
This seems rather odd.
The poor children are then back into the system, to be placed with more strangers.
Seems odd not to know where, when, why and the numbers of children who are invisible in the system?

Has any consideration been given to the harm caused to these boys by these adopters?
We adopted two brothers, but 8 years later we gave one back β he began to exhibit odd sexual behaviour

Words fail me.
And once again a child is blamed, shamed and named.
Adopters must have missed the forever home tick box.
Poor child. Lost mum, then brother and had it in the media.
Should be adopters named . And have the other child removed as they are not fit.
@tonyhawktruther Many people would love to have the ability to leave their homes each day, or each week, and can't.
Wrap your ableist , privileged head round that.
And think.
Not all have the privilege of mobility.
@BBCWomansHour@KatharineQ@JessCreighton1@BBCSounds@ScottishAAM exist .
There is an increasing divide between those with a relationship with adoptive and birth family.
And those without.
And those who continue to have a relationship with adoptive family and birth family.
And those without
The privilege of back up.
